Carebear Classes

Many people are interested in seeing a wider variety of classes, and many of us are frustrated at the frustration of the crafting sytem, especially at the higher levels. In light of this, I propose this expansion to the game that will address both issues: non-combat classes.

These crafting specialists could technically fight, and could even build their characters to use whatever sort of weapon they like, but with no combat skills, or maybe one or two at the very most, they aren't going to be shining stars on the battlefield. What would set them apart would be a significantly improved ability to craft certain items, based on their race. They could get Masteries that would incrase the amount of EXP and Spirit they'd get from crafting, aas well as reducing the materials they require to produce their masterworks.

They woudl be bound by the same rules as everyone else, so they would have to work hard to reach level 50 and so forth in order to continue to improve in their trade. They'd ahve to complete Spiritual Cultivations like everyone else in order to unlock skills that would make their crafted items even beter. In the meantime, factions would be training them up so as to provide excellent equipment for their members.

Here are some potential examples of these classes:

Human Engineer
Specialties: Swords, Polearms, Arcane Armor, Necklaces

Winged Elf Designer
Specialties: Bows, Magical Instruments, Light Armor, Rings

Untamed Forger
Specialties: Axes/Hammers, Fists, Heavy Armor, Belts

Soem might argue that such a character wouldn't be fun to play, and for many people, that would be true, but keep in mind that what is fun for one person is stressful for someone else, and what is boring for one person may be fulfilling for someone else. The idea is the choice. I, for one, would play one of these characters so I could support my fellow faction members adn friends by providing them with the best gear I could make.

    One failing point of this.

As is, secondary materials, like oil, leather, glue, thread can be rather hard to get, and can cost quite a bit when you start talking about crafting 20-50 items a level. As the demand for these materials goes up (from everyone wanting to make one of these characters to try) the costs would go up even more, limited only by the cash shop and whatever insane price gold is at. On the other side of this, you have a relatively low demand for crafted items that aren't TT, Mold, or otherwise special, especially at higher levels, so you would be flooding the market with items that cost a small fortune to make, but wouldn't sell to anyone but the NPCs. Meanwhile, you have a whole game full of people who have already gone through the hell that is getting level 6+ crafting levels one one of their characters, who now would have to start fresh at the increased prices of the new material demands.

While this might be offset by giving these classes a skill which can greatly improve the chances of a material dropping, or improving what they can harvest, this would still result in the market being flooded with excess equipment, and probably materials (since as it stands, nearly everything you can make costs more to make than it will sell for unless 3*). And if this isn't the case, these classes would simply be used as a means of cranking out more and more coinage.

The reality is that at high level, you're wearing almost entirely gold or green equipment anyway. Purple stuff just doesn't come close. Likewise, this high level equipment isn't something you can just buy, but needs to be earned. At lower levels, good equipment is rarely worth the money it costs to pay since you end up just having to replace it in a few days anyhow.

Crafting is never an important focus in this game. It is obvious from the devs's lack of effort into making the crafting system. Therefore any class focus on crafting will go outside the original design of the game.
