Locked Mailbox

Can someone please tell me how someone's mailbox becomes locked? For instance, I'm trying to send a message to someone and when I click send I get "Recipient's mailbox is locked".

I've googled this, but havn't been able to find any information on it.

    No idea either, happened to me when i was trying to send stuff to my alts, i was able to do it previously but somehow it got locked after a while for whatever reason

    maybe after a certain update? or a certain length of inactivity?

    well it seem that logging on my alt and checking the mailbox fixed the problem though

    Thank you guys! :) You made me feel a bit better. I was concerned a friend may have deleted their account. I know this could still maybe be the reason why the mailbox is locked, but good to know there is an alternative.

    Happens to me when i send stuff to a storage alt, but i havent actually logged into the alt in more then a month (unsure of actual time span). Logging into the alt & checking its current mail always fixes this. So it seems its a way to prevent you from mailing to an inactive character.

    im pretty sure its after 30 or 90 days inactive ya cant send em mail
