Having difficulty choosing a build.

My Venomancer is only level 13 (incorrectly stated as level 22 earlier on another thread; confused two chars XD) and she's a robe build. So far, I haven't had any problem with her but it was stated elsewhere that they have "low survivability". Will she prove difficult in later levels?

I ask because I made another Venomancer and she's only level 5. I'm trying to decide which build I should go with but I'm not sure what to do. I don't want my physical attacks to be weak and I'm not really into having low HP.

Any suggestions?

Unless you plan on going into PK mode at level 30, do not worry too much about that, arcane gives you the most flexibility with your point alocation, since you can use some magic points and put them into vita, which no other build lets you do, until you get to really high level.

If you want a little more HP, than do 1str, 1 vita, 8 magic every 2 levels. You can always shard your arcane gear with Pdef shards, and you can look for gear with pdef bonuses, if you really have an issue with having low pdef. However, the LA build, while giving you more Pdef, would give you less Mdef, and basicaly no HP advantage, since you have to use 1str, 1dex, 3 magic every level, so no points left to put into vita.

Also, remember, you can always re-stat later on, if your needs change (for example, you get into pvp or TWs and you want to just be a HA debuffer.)
Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.

    Cool, thanks for the info.

So just following the Robe bulid in this thread would be okay?

I'd recommend reading all the guides up at the top of this forum.

You can improve robe survivability several ways:

    1) vitality points - the cheap man's way (costs nothing, which is really quite super :3)
    2) pdef or HP stones - I'd recommend HP stones if you're statting little to no vit, while if statting 75+ vit, I'd recommend pdef stones
    3) refines - the expensive way of getting HP (next expensive way is heavy use of high grade shards); refining is generally not considered "worth it" until your 8x gear

All of these are viable, by themselves or in combination.

Some people go pure magic, and stat HP stones. Other stat vitality 1 point every other level, others put in one point every level.

Some stat pure vit their whole way through, others put a cap on their base vit (I've heard of people capping anywhere from 50-150).

My personal experience: I'm a vitality arcane veno. I'm capping my vit at 100 base, I stat good pdef stones in my armor and HP stones in my hat/cape, and look for heavy pdef/physical reduction stats on my armor, and second that with armor that adds magic.

I haven't yet decided how I'm going to do 90. I'm obviously going to refine my set, and I'm fairly sure I'm going pdef stones in my armor and HP in my hat/cape... it's really a matter of how much vit I'm going to leave statted in.

Point is, mix and match in the lower levels and see how these different things work for you.

I was going to try putting enough STR and DEX on to use heavy armor, too. Or would that kind of take away from MAG too much?

A heavy armor (HA) venomancer is definitely a survivor, especially if you mix n match with arcane robes. I probably wouldn't recommend that build until much later as it will slow your leveling down a lot (less magic damage and less pet heal power). Unless you're planning a HA fox-veno build.
