Grinding?

I'm not very new to this game, although I don't play it often, but more and more I'm hearing people talk about "grinding".
I was curious if anyone could please specify that for me.

If an example is needed, I grew more curious about it after reading this:
"Just for comparison, at lvl 45, my Venomancer made about 100K while grinding 30%."

    Grinding is the act of staying in certain area and then keep killing the same monsters again and again as they spawn, for a very, very, long time.
