Would you join this faction?

I'm posting this with an alt so nobody knows who I am yet.
I was considering starting a faction and I'd like to know what you think and if you'd join.
The basics would be that we are a friendly, family-like faction that works together and helps each other. We'd be in the lvl range of 2x to around 6x or 7x. We'd do FBs, TT, BH, Quests, and bosses. We'd also have a website and forums, which is mandatory for all members to sign up for. Later on, if its going well, and I have enough money, we may get vent.
We would have people who work on specific things within the faction, like some people would be assigned to creating events for our members to attend, some people would also work on manufacturing items for our members, and so on.
We'd be big on teamwork and help each other out on whatever we can.
We would not be too interested in TWs, but maybe we will later on (probably not in the near future).
Our website would be important and useful, and a major part of the guild.
We'd try to recruit those who are lvl 20+ although we'd allow for people lvl
10+ to go on trial and would be essentially on probation and given a certain amount of time for them to get to lvl 20. We don't expect to get many (if at all) high lvls, such as people 8x, 9x, or 10x; we might have a few lvl 7x, although as we all lvl up that may change.
We'd look for executors (2 from each class) that are lvl 50+, the first in the class would probably be appointed by me although the 2nd in the class would be voted on by members on our website.
We'd also seek marshals lvl 60+, one of them will be appointed by me most likely, however we'd like to keep this strictly up for vote by members. Of course, lvl isn't the only thing needed if you want a promotion.
The leader and director would probably be around the 6x range when created, of course everyone lvls up over time.
We'd mostly focus on helping our members and helping them to level up, as well as building up the guild, and potentially upgrading it.
We want good, loyal, friendly, helpful, caring, dedicated players to be in this guild.
Well tell me what you think by either voting or leaving a reply. I'm open to opinions and its a work in progress.
I'm not promising this faction to be created however I'd like to know what you think, also if you'd be interested in joining leave a comment with your in-game name and if it is created, you'll be invited.
I'm not sure about the name of it, but if you have any serious and good suggestions, you can leave it below in a reply.
Thanks for your help.

Its not a bad idea, but you might wanna include a guild bank of some sort. It can be useful for any faction.
I'd also like to suggest a name "The Pain".
BTW, you might wanna include that you want active and fast lvling players (assuming that it what you want).
Also, are you sure you want to commit yourself to building a faction? Although a fun "close-knit" faction can be nice so can a big one. And btw, factions take a lot of hard work, just to let you know. However it seems you've put some thought into it, and if I was on DW I might consider joining.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Sounds interesting. I don't have a faction and wouldn't mind being in one like you described. I'm still low lvl though.
By the way, I don't exactly have suggestions for a name but just want to tell you that sometimes it's the name of the faction that attracts the player, so lots of thought should go into it.
This is just my personal preference, but I like names that are interesting, slightly (but not too) modest, and mildy seductive (doesn't have to be seductive). Am I making sense? =p
I wish you luck though!0 -
Ok thanks for your suggestions. I'll consider the name you suggested DeadFriend. Although could you elaborate more Thiele? I know the guild name is very important which is why I really want a good one.
Thanks for your opinions so far, and I will definetly add in a bank when I get a chance, maybe if we all seem dedicated I'd add one in when we upgrade to lvl 2 faction.
If you haven't already please reply and/or vote! Thanks!0 -
Just examples from past factions I've been in:
I was in a guild called Mayhem, and I liked it because the faction itself was chaotic (in a light, fun way =p). The only reason I joined was because the name attracted me.
Though the name is an important factor, it's more of the people that attract me. In another guild I was in, I hated the name but loved the people because they were so funny and nice. (I won't name the faction though =p)
I guess I'm saying that the name is important, but don't get too caught up on it. b:laugh
And I'm a confusing person lol.0 -
I agree the name of the faction is important, not only can it make you look stupid if you have a stupid name, people aren't going to want a weird or stupid name over their heads.
Now let me play Devil's Advocate. You have the best intentions, but in the end the game is full of young people who are complete morons, and then there are the not so young people who think just because its a game they can do whatever they freaking want. In the end it comes down to leadership, and being able to reign in the free spirits who join your faction, or the ability to be able to get rid of those who would give you a bad name. I am not saying all the people who play this game are bad, I've met quite a few great people, but a lot of the people just cause problems. As well clashing personalities cause many problems. You as a leader have to know how to talk to people, make them understand the other person's point of view in an argument. You have to know when its just time to let someone go.
As for the website, well its all good to have one, but many people won't go to it because of whatever reason, but its a great resource to have there.
I wish you the best of luck, but I warn you: Being a leader is hard, you have to control your temper, you have to know when to let someone go, and when to chase after them. You always have to have a cool head. Saying you aren't going to TW, or at least not in the near future may also turn people away, it may make you look unambitious, but in my experience, TWs tear more factions apart than anything else, greed will bring down a lot of factions, tightnit or not...0 -
Ok thanks for your help. I know its going to be tough, and the other tough part is that for me, at the end of August, school will start back up which will limit the amount of game time.
I'm probably going to give it a try although I haven't yet officially decided on a name.0 -
Your guild sounds exactly the same as 20 other guilds in dreamweaver. What sets you apart from them? (aside from the name of course) Why should i join your faction and not someone elses?
You have to try and make your faction stand out someway.0 -
Is Cookie a faction yet? Make it that :DD b:dirtyb:dirty0

I agree with Kardie, a lot of factions claim to be the same as what your faction will be. Helpful, fun, friendly, etc are all terms used by almost every faction in order to recruit members. What makes you different? This isn't a flame by the way, it's just that many people who might be interested in a faction will be searching through dozens of recruiting topics saying the same thing, so separating yourself from the flock of mindless sheep factions would probably make them more interested in joining yours.
As for a faction name, you'll have to think of one on your own. You may want to have a name that describes what you want the faction to be like. I (like Thiele) used to be in a faction called Mayhem (which merged with another faction) and the name was very descriptive. A cool name is nice but a name that "fits" is (in my opinion) better (if it's both then even better). Did this paragraph even make any sense?
I have a couple questions though, do you really want to make a faction? And more importantly, do you think you can lead one? I'm sure you do (otherwise you wouldn't be considering starting one), but think very hard about both questions.
As for your question. No I would not join your faction. For one thing, I'm already in a faction and some of the members would hunt me down if I left. b:shocked Secondly, as I've said before, your description is to similar to those of several other factions. Have something that will make people think "That's different.". You're competing with a lot of other factions for members so different is good (I like the idea of everyone choosing marshals and executors). I'm sure I'm making it sound easier than it is but you'll need to do a lot more to keep your faction together afterward.
Anyway, good luck and have fun killing those poor, innocent monsters with your faction. b:victoryMeh, saw a couple other people doing this so...

As important as the social aspects of leading and growing a faction are, you'll inevitably be forced to deal with the details.
What I'm talking about here is compensation.
Now, you said you weren't interested in TW which is a major plus at this stage, but for people to take time out of their leveling to help others (BH, TT, Bosses, events, and administration) there must be a payoff of some sort. Repairs for multiple bosses can get pricey for all involved, and replenishing potions and charms will become an issue. Working these details out well ahead of time will save your faction endless grief, as well as unnecessary losses due to disputes.
I wish I had good suggestions to impart to you about resolving this, but I have yet to see a faction that has adequately worked these issues out.0
