NOTICE: August Calendar Contest Winners List!

We are pleased to announce the winners of the August Calendar Contest today! Despite the shortened submission period you all showed us that you can perform under pressure and create quality designs. We had so many great submissions this month that the decisions were some of the most difficult that our judges have ever had to make.


What can we say? It's great to have a community with so much artistic talent, unfortunately this leads to a lot of close finishes. For this reason, we have expanded our runners up list to 12 this month.

Also, we love to recognize our past winners, so we've added a new section to show off our returning champions in all their glory. Previous winners please note, from now on it will not be possible to win two calendar contests in a row, however since the contest has been changed to every other month, you will be able to win again in the contest every other month. For example: if you won June you can't win August for fairness sake, but when our October contest rolls around you will be able to win again!

Our 5 winners will recieve an unreleased flying mount. Winners: more details will be provided to you via e-mail, expect to hear from us sometime next week.

To those of you who may not have made top 5: Remember, this contest is more about showing everyone's skill and getting your work recognized, winning is just an unexpected benefit that we use to keep people coming back.

Don't be discouraged if you didn't win something this time. There's always the next contest, and if you keep improving like we've seen you doing (you know who you are folks) you're bound to take home the prize eventually!

I was actually wondering about that specific entry as well. I thought that in previous calendar contests, those images were not allowed to be used.

Telling the difference in art is very different from having an all encompassing knowledge of every piece of art ever produced in every region of this game. b:chuckle

I dont have all knowledge of the art that was produced, but I CAN tell particular art styles when i see one :O there are only a handful of them for all of PWs

edit* BTW you didnt answer the question if official art is usable

I don't plan to today, because the winners have been posted and will not change. I personally am not sure if it is official art, there are several inconsistencies that would lead some to believe that it was not an official art piece.

These are all artwork commissioned by PW japan either from the opening, or as advertisement, or as rewards to winners from an official Mr./Miss PW JP beauty contests.

2) Load the background template into the image manipulation software of your choice and jazz up the template in any manner you like. Examples include: using screen captures, real life photos of yourself (keep it clean!), images found on our website, self created elements, etc. - Just be creative! The stock images included in the calendar kit are a great place to start but feel free to find other sources of inspiration!

I have no intention of trying to pass off the original artist's work as my own. However from reading the rules on the August page, I did not find any information forbidding PW wallpapers. If we look at the contest's history, (http://pwi.perfectworld.com/download/wallpaper) we can see a winner in March edited a wallpaper image (the green archer).

If I violated the rules in any way, I will give my spot up. However, if there were no instructions that clearly forbid this then I don't understand why there is a huge argument going around.

Sorry for any of the inconvenience caused but could someone please point out where the small print is?

Perfectly understandable, and I have no qualms with it... if you'd informed us of this change in the rules before we worked our asses off to get it in on time. If i'd known i was automatically disqualified (note: not QQing for not winning, QQing for being auto. disqualified without prior notification) for August because I'd won in June (I didn't even consider this possibility because there was precedent: Semyezza won twice in a row in Feb and March), I wouldn't have stayed up all night trying to finish it... you make me sad spoons. b:sad But I understand that everything's set in stone already and there can be no change, nor do I feel like I deserve to win more than anyone else who did, I just had to get it out... /QQ

Oh, and... hate to nitpick but you spelled my name wrong, again. Lol. People keep wanting to read my name Ryan- for some reason... I'm not a boyyyyyy! b:surrender really /QQ now

Not to be offensive or anything but I think all rules would be hard as there are many loop holes one may find =x I think part of it lies on common sense.

First off, congratz to all winners and a job well done to every single other person who participated. I'm sure everyone worked their butts off, esp considering the limited amount of time.

On another note, I personally think that viviQ's is amazing. I love the style and the girl looks kick **** Well done.

I personally like Swiftail - Heavens Tear work.
The picture itself is distorted a tad because of the style of this particular work, but looking from the proportions and the coloring his/hers would seem to be on par with viviQs if he/she wanted to make a serious drawing. I likes xD
