i heard a rumor the high level cash shoppers complained enough about lowbies leveling via oracles that they convinced the gm's to end jolly jones early as they already stockpiled their oracles. Any validity to these rumors?

No, because the whole reason the gm had jolly jones is to drain people of real money and "game coins" as one gm put it in his explanation. I haven't seen this game stopping an event unless it was causing them to lose money. Also the event provides for jiaozi and oracles...all high lvls love this stuff they would be dumb to try to end it.

Jolly jones is a messed up event. I had a couple of rich (as in in-game) friends who managed to get their lowbie 30ish chars to 60~70+ just with oracles. Basically a big middle finger to everyone else that took months to accomplish the same thing.

As for GMs 'excuse' to do it, its an extreme offense to the PWI comunity. They basically insult our intelligence saying its a way to 'drain coins from the economy' while at the same time injecting a permanent 1M player money stealing chest rewards to some events in a sad attempt to control the gold market price. Also i dont remember a single player actually spending the 100k on jolly jones, just angels....which costs what? Ding ding: Gold! Did a single coin get drained from the entire event yet? I wonder...

If it ends today, AWESOME. Sadly the chests will remain to keep the gold prices high up. I wonder whats coming next.
