What is your favorite movie or show based on a book/series of books or a story? There isn't really a lot to choose from but I'm just curious.

My very favorite show that is based on a series of books is Legend of the Seeker, based on Terry Goodkind's series Sword of Truth - 10 books. I just watched it a few days ago on youtube. It is a show that ended season 1 not too long ago, and the reason it is not a movie is because it is way too long.

To tell you a little more, this story is action from the beginning, and when you expect something in normal fantasy films, something else happens, many parts are going to make you hold your breath trust me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RkZ4lsRTq4 <-- Part one of the season premiere if you're interested - 22 episode season.

Anyways, post yours and check out eachother's movies/show

Guess I'd have to say True Blood, based off of a series by Charlaine Harris.

my favorite story, valkyrie profile, is based off the norse epic poem NIBELUNGENLIED. a beautiful story of a death goddess, a valkyrie, falling in love with a human. loki kills the human in a prank, and the valkyrie swears vengeance. :V theres an operatic symphony based off of it too, that takes 4 days to play all of its movements, (der ring des nibelungen by wagner)

How dare you. The movies disgrace the books!

I however, would have to go with the Lord of the Rings. I thought the trilogy was very well done.
