Spoons locked a thread just the other day and said necroing was against the rules.

You don't think I'd deliberately try to mislead you, do I? b:cute

QQ It's in LD I'm sure. It's been stated. -_-

there really is no 'solid' definition of 'necro,' the forum rules are much like the US constitution; whereas the highest judges in the land interpret its rules and define them when one is ambigious to the public. since our mods are our judges, they decide when something is necro'd or nonnecro'd and whether to bury it in LD or not :P.

Understood. But since the mods determine what is "necro", they could make things easier for everyone by locking old threads when they go stale.

Instead of random visitors to the forum getting their *** chapped because they "necro'd a thread, you bastage" instead of the answer to their question.

It's like a city without stop signs. You're already supposed to know to stop at all intersections - who actually needs a sign?

The signs are there to *remind* you. It's not that hard to plant the signs, and it helps to remind people to stop.

Well generally if a mod catches it, they -do- lock it. Unfortunately mods can't be everywhere at once, and people will be nasty. b:sad

Why are you trying to argue about forum rules in the first place? I don;t remember them being negotiable.

If you see information in an old thread, copy it and make a NEW post asking about it. This lets people see that it's a new topic, as opposed to an old one with outdated information.

IF the thread is more than 1 month old, it is a dead thread and should not be resurrected. I feel like a broken record sometimes, simple rule to follow folks.
