I'm currently in the process of finishing my LA-->Pure Mage restatting (I have some more dexterity and strength to drop). I was just wondering how much of the rumors about 1-hitting barbarians and mobs are true. Also, how much does an end-game mage hit on average. I'd like to know numbers from lower level spells like Gush, mid-levels like Sandstorm, and higher-levels spells like Black Ice Dragon Strike. Thank you!

    i one shotted a barb as LA.

    imo, its easier to do it as LA than it is pure
    Sins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
    Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
    ...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
    Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
    So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze

    You need a crit to do it, some barbs have hp too high. Maybe with a sage/demon spark erupted BIDS critical you could. If you repeatedly try this in pvp you end up dead very fast.
    Currently flying internet spaceships around dodixie, moving to amarr soon.

    Maybe I won't get rid of my dex then :p I'll have some sort of dex hybrid mage. Since I don't need the pdef for PvE, I'll just drop str. And if it dosen't work, i'll just drop dex XD. A little experiment can be good sometimesb:chuckle

    dex hybrid is in my wizard guide

    Dex hybrid is ****.
    Might as well be heavy.

    Pure for grinding, better consistant dmg, better mdef.

    damage loss isnt noticable
    but you get a extra % crit
    keep stacking it up

    Worthless, 1% crit is not worth the loss of 15-20 magic. Especially since you won't have any vit, you'll be worthless in pvp. And if you do get both vit and dex you should be shot for being an idiot.
    Wondering how much longer these **** packs are going to be around.

    It's never easy to 1 hit barbs. TT90 with +5 and lvl 6 HP gems is the most common gear you'll find on barbs, with that its around 16k HP give or take in tiger form. There are 1 or 2 barbs with 20k HP on HT.

    It takes a far bit of preparation and timing to get 20k crits going off unless your weapon's pretty highly refined. Most commonly with Sage Ice Dragon only I hit 10-11k crits on average, undined and posioned with frenzy 13-16k crits average. I've hit max for 22k on someone with undine, poison and frenzy. Obviously if you can get a BM to heaven's flame before its a lot easier to kill barbs but true oneshots are hard to pull of late game.

    actually the only reason i pvp was cause the extra 1% stacked up with other crit items made me crit quite a bit

    One hitting a barb is true. The barb just has to be significantly lower level than you are. b:chuckle

    i was lvl 72, barb was lvl 76

    he was in human form btw :3

    btw that barb was obviously awful and had shabby turqouise shards in his gear with 5 vit

    If you're going to go LA, then go LA. Don't mess around with the dex hybrid/vit stuff, it's not worth it to lose mag points.

    The only builds that are usable are LA and Pure (maybe vitality hybrid w/ arcane if you like to solo a lot).

    Sure, Pures may die cause they take aggro away from the tanker. But if you know how to use one, you shouldn't die.

    If you want to be safe, go LA and let the archers take the aggro. But that defeats the purpose of Wizards being the premier damage dealing class.

    Like sum1 said, its possible to 1 shot barbs lower lvl then you or if you have a very good refinement. I was one shotted by cleric while I had bloodpath on & also one shotted by the highest lvl wizard in Harshlands although the cleric had +6 or +7 refinement (I know I was stupid enough to walk around with bloodpath on during pk war with a cleric 9 or 10 lvls above me around) & this wizard was about 12 lvls above me.
    Im a full vit barb with almost 10k HP in human form but theres no wizard who can one shot a Barbarian with 1 lvl diff unless the barb is a full str/dex build or the wizard has a sick weapon refinement nd manages to get a crit on a full vit barb with 0 refinement xD anyways, wizards naturally are the only class that does dmg close enough to one shot barbs even when they are same lvl.

    Only barbs I've ever bothered to kill were either,

    1. Lower than me
    2. Got hit with a crit at around 51% hp(take that charm >:3)
    3. In Dragon's temple after being hit by the water debuff, BIDS is epic in there on any armour type.
    4. Purged, undined and hit very hard.
