So what really is Pk/PvP?

What i mean by this is how does the system work with pvp and pk? When you check your stats like phy attack/defense and mag attack/defense it seems etremley high. Me and my frined tested to see how it works and we cant find any particular pattern. For example we had his lvl 55 mage attack my lvl 75 archer. The results are his magic attack is 21k-25k and my magic defense is 22k roughly for each one. Then he attacked my with his great cyclone and i took about 200-300 damage. How exactly does this work? Because before we tested this i thought that they designed it where 1 defense point cancels out 1 attack point. Example: 1000 physical attack + 800 physical defense = 200 damage.
Can someone plz tell me how this works?

lol.
we have debated the same question in the blademaster section in several treads for long time.
the issue is between fists BM and axes.
fists attacks are less than axes but fists make more attacks per second than axes. So when you add the additional benefists of ornaments and refines. Fists out attacks axes by a good chunk.
the issue here is how damage is caculated?
if damage is calculated the way you said
attack-defence= damage. Axes will most likely out damage fists, as fists damage per attack will be way less.
if damage is calculated like this:
attack*(% reduction)= damage. Fists will most likely out damage axes, as the reduction is directly proporcional on both.
I do suspect is a % as when you click in your toon properties and you see your phy defence the info talks about % reduction for mobs at your level.
Saying that, I like to know how is really calculated.
another reason why I think is a %, is if a low level player hits a high level. if the player hits 600 and you defence is 800. well, he will not do damage on you. However, a low level will most likely do damage, even if this one is insignificant. this should prove is a %.
btw, i'm not trying to bring the fists debate here. I;m just trying to explain the issue with a real case.0 -
Damage is reduced by 25% - %resistances.
If your m-attack is 8000, it's 2000 in PvP. Then it's the skill you use - the resistance the enemy has.
Understand there may be additional mechanism involved. Resistances are for your level (i.e. a level 80 BM with 72% pdef has 72% pdef for level 80 mobs. More for level 60 mobs, less for level 90 mobs). Whether this is applied in PvP (level 80 BM vs a level 50 BM for instance) I'm not sure, though my anecdotal experience suggests it is. The precise numbers however are unknown to me.
Two further pointsor example we had his lvl 55 mage attack my lvl 75 archer. The results are his magic attack is 21k-25k and my magic defense is 22k roughly for each one.
His mattack and your resistance weren't that high. Even in PvE.attack-defence= damage. Axes will most likely out damage fists, as fists damage per attack will be way less.
if damage is calculated like this:
attack*(% reduction)= damage. Fists will most likely out damage axes, as the reduction is directly proporcional on both.
It works the latter but your logical is flawed. Axes still out-damage fists and it's mathematically demonstrated. Especially when skills are taken into account.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I'm talking about normal attacks per second and after adding refines, shards, ornaments, same stats and assuming fists will be able to hit a static target. BTW, I dont want to bring the debate here but just for the sake of the argument.b:chuckle
two random weapons I picked at 90.
deitinia fists will do 501-554. average attack 527
Devil Axes 582-1358 average attack 970
yes 970 is more than 527 for sure
but if you refine both weapons to level 4 (84 for fists, 86 for the axes), add 20 physical attack shard on both, and add two mighty rings of 60 on each you get the following:
fists=527+84+20+2x60=751
axes=970+86+20+2x60= 1196
still 1196 is more than 751 but fists does 1.43 attacks per second while axes does 0.83
which means:
fists: 751 x1.43=1073 per second
axes: 1196x.83= 992.68 per second
this is what I'm talking about.
if both attacks are reduce by a % fists will continue coming ahead but if the attack are reduced by a fix number like 800, fists would not do damage at all while axes would still do damage on every attack for about a 100.0
