This is not the rant about how much rep it takes to acquire rank gear so please continue reading GMs and all.

I play as a Light Armor Cleric however all of my rank gear is arcane based. It would be nice for rank gear to take this into effect. Meaning the system either 1) Notes my attributes and determines which are the likely possibilities I could use or 2) offers all of the chooses.

So in other words I get my Rank 4 pants. I click on the pants selection form the NPC and a creen jumps up showing the heavy, light and arcane Rank 4 pants with a radio button next to them. You then choose which of the 3 you want. This allows players who play alternate classes a chance for decent gear when they do attain rank. As a LA Cleric I did use my Rank 4 pants. They did come in handy in certain situations, however I would have preferred the Light Version. I know when I soon hit r5 I'm going to want the light armor top instead of the arcane.

That would definitely be nice. I had to get the Arcane set for my Wizard even though she stats/wears LA. It's good armor, don't get me wrong, but I had some 3* LA I crafted that is actually better. It would have been sheer awesome with the extra stat boosts the Rank gear gives you.

I think the gear is currently restricted by Class, though. I know the rank gear I got for this Barb says "Barbarian Only" on it. So they'd likely have to either expand the restrictions or make new armor altogether.

So as a cleric you would want to choose to have intervals between attacks which doesnt effect a cleric because you dont attack with your magic weapon or at least i hope you dont, Over -3% chan?

Armour is based on your class, Magic users use arcane, Close combat use heavy armour and archers use light. If you decide to use a different armour then thats down to you and you have to suffer with the lack of what is available to you.

How would this make them obsolete? I'm not suggesting they change the requirements to wear it, just make it available to get regardless of class. You would still need the base skill requirements to wear it.

As for whether I'd choose the LA rank over the arcane as a LA cleric that's the whole point. I WOULD choose the LA armor. The 3% channeling isn't the only reason to get gear. Although I do admit the time reduction that LA gives would not have value the stats at least would. I usually wear a piece of arcane to give me a - channeling stat, like sleeves of the sea captain. Otherwise it's critical chance increase stats that are more valuable for me as LA.

I would love to get a set of heavy rank gear I could wear :) I would not even bother with light, since I would be able to mix and match my arcane gear with rank heavy gear.... :) <drools>
