File Corrupted?

As of 15 minutes ago I was playing PWI, not doing much. Then the music began to repeat and the whole thing just exited out itself. No server disconnect whatsoever.

When I try to go back on PWI, it says the file is corrupted. (No idea what that means) So I click verify, then after 5 seconds it just exits out AGAIN. I tried this process 4 times. No avail.

I don't really get it, because my internet got all screwy too. Trying to get here took 3 tries and a computer restart. So, any ideas of what to do?

Much appreciated, Rayna.

Could be a virus or spyware or a weird add-on to your brower b:lipcurl .To repair your internet u can try to "refresh" your internet connection (not visited pages) by Accesing Control Panel , click on Network and Internet Connections and click again on Network Connections and ull see Local Area Connection , right click on it it and select Repair (Windows XP SP 2(3)).2nd choice to repair internet connection its from browser , click on Diagnose Connection problem and follow steps (dont forget to disconnect from internet the Modem and reconnect again after 1 min..ull see on Diagnose connection problem). If u still have problem with internet , could be from your internet provider (a lil malfunction or repairs on network) or could be from a virus or spyware.Did u scaned your system ? If u have a suspicious file(passed) from your antivirus software and its max. 10Mb u can send it to www.virustotal.com for online scan. For game files 'corrupted' try to click Verify menu from the window of starting game to scan and update/repair if it need.Or visit this post http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=75572 its GM's post with more details or links for troubleshoots with game and a very good FAQ guide b:victory. Or read this giude from a GM too http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=70202

    * oh , dont forgot to delete your Browsing History from your browser..by visiting web pages u can 'catch' tracking cookies which can follow to spyware or virus sites. How u can clean your internet browser? Click on Tools and select 1st menu Delete Browsing History and just click again on Delete.

seems most likely that you will need to uninstall and reinstall. if you still have the original install file you can try that, if not you may want to re-download the whole thing. Make sure to click the "verify" option whenever you are asked, to make sure the install isn't corrupted.

If the only problem is the PWI game client, just uninstall it, download a new copy and reinstall like Spoons said. If other issues are present as well, try what I wrote below:

Please visit this link: http://www.avast.com/eng/down_home.html and download the version that matches your language.

Once you have downloaded it locate the file that you just downloaded (usually on your desktop). The icon should appear titled setupeng.exe

Now double-click on the file to launch the installation of Avast!

I will guide you through the screens:

    1) Welcome to avast Setup, click Next
    2) Click Next again
    3) License Agreement, click I Agree then Next
    4) Installation Type, click Minimal then Next
    5) Summary of what will be installed, click Next
    6) Do you wish to schedule a boot-time scan, click Yes
    7) Installation complete, select Restart and click Finish

Your computer will restart and the program will provide a boot-time scan before it will allow Windows to start. This method catches viruses that may hide themselves from scans done while windows is up and running. If any viruses are found choose to Delete any infected file.

Be sure to write down any files that are infected and with which virus they were infected. Post an update on the forums when you get a chance.

EDIT: Don't worry about deleting browser history and cookies they don't harm your computer. Cookies are really small files that save settings of websites you visit, so you don't have to type in your password everytime you need to check your email or these forums. I've never seen any case where a cookie led to a virus or **** computer.

EDIT 2: The reason I recommend getting that specific software and doing that specific type of scan is that you noticed unusual slow-downs with your computer. Slow computer doesn't always mean a virus but it doesn't hurt to be on the safe side. Some viruses can be "Very sneaky sir" like the butler from the movie Mr. Deeds
