Disconnected from Server

Over the past two weeks I've been having severe trouble staying connected to the server - both on my main account (this one) and an alternate cat-shop only account.

I've been on three different computers and two different networks. I've also used every current Microsoft OS - from XP through Windows 7 - to try and help the situation, no joy. I don't get any error messages and the game doesn't crash. I just get the simple "Disconnected from Server" message.

I've tried everything I know of to help this.

I do know it's only PWI because when my main account gets disconnected, I'm usually on ventrillo and I never miss a beat with the vent connection.

Is there anything that I can do to help???

    Try playing without Vent and see if you encounter the same issue.

    Try lowering the bandwidth/quality that Vent uses and try to reproduce the issue.

    First of all, THANK YOU Darthpanda for the VERY quick reply!


    Now as for vent being the problem, I don't think so. Here's why:

    I took my laptop to the office today - this is the machine that I normally run my cat-shop only account on. My office has a 24Mb/s connection to the Internet. I left my cat-shop account on ALL DAY and had no problems - I even decided to leave it there tonight to see if the connection would remain stable overnight. Obviously, at my office there isn't any vent users and that Internet connection gets used heavier during the day than at night. (How do I know this? I run that network. ;-) )

    So I get home, run through a couple of quests on my main account and then fly to Arch to see if anything has sold in my shop. When I arrive, my shop isn't there. So I've been disconnected again. b:sad

    I did look at the networking troubleshooting info you gave me. I'll try port-forwarding 29000 tonight and see if that helps. But, in the event it doesn't, is there anything else that can be done?

    So, last night I set my router to port-forward 29000 as advised in the troubleshooting steps. I set my cat shop up and walked away from it.

    Wake up this morning, all is well. I figure "A HA! It's fixed!" So I leave it on and go to work.

    I log on at lunch from the office to do my crazy stone, then I walk to where I left my cat shop running. It's gone again. Once again, I've been diconnected. b:sad

    I've fired my laptop up at the office and left the cat shop running since about noon today (it's 2:35pm now). So far no drops.

    Is there any way to log or capture what *might* be causing the connection to drop. I'm only pushing this so hard because up until about 2 weeks ago, I had rock-solid connections. I've had my cat shop for weeks before without issue and my main account had never EVER been disconnected.

    Thanks again for putting up with me and my issues.

    This has actually been an issue for most people roughly since the genies were introduced. We're working on a fix for it, but in the meantime minimizing the game when you AFK in your consignment shop should prevent it from crashing.
