I'm on Sanctuary, and this situation may be just a Sanctuary problem but I think not.

About a month-and-a-half ago, I started to catch Rare Pets. At first it was the challenge and the fact that I wanted several of them. After I collected all of the pets I wanted - and a few for my guildees - I started to sell the ones I caught in a cat shop. Things were doing pretty good, I managed to sell a couple of piggys, a kowlin or two and a kitten.

Then the servers went down for maintenance and the spawn times got all screwed up. The piggy was spawning at least 30 minutes later than all the others. This was about 3-4 weeks ago. I mention this event because it was about this time the prices started to fall.

Before this event, I could get 1.6 - 1.7 mil for a Kowlin and 1.3 mil for a Pig. Now I'm lucky to get a mil for each - and even then they stay in my shop for a very long time. I've had a Piggy in my shop for nearly 12 days now.

So is the market becoming flooded? Are the "rare" pests simply not rare anymore? Is this happening on all the servers? What gives?

Prices appear to be falling on Heaven's Tear as well. I think we're seeing less real new players and more alternates.

given that the kowlin kinda sucks the cost on it is mostly from there being only the one spawn. same for the pig. also, i think most people who play venos as their main are more interested in getting a herc or nix.

Reasons for price drop

• the large amount of rare pets in circulation
• the lesser flow of new players nonetheless venomancers
• the uselessness of some rare pets
• the drive to save for legendary pets which causes people to tame rare pets themselves rather than buy from others

heck.. for a mil plus, even for 650k that i typically see on lost city for kowlin, i'll catch my own... find a friend that catches 'em, or go without. lol.

thats potentially more than 13 battle pet packs closer to something else i want. why spend 650k+ on a wolf that goes 10m/s lol

PWI needs to run some more ads to get an influx of new players. I've noticed prices for most everything levels 30-50 dropping while 60-70 has been going up.

I didn't pay for my kowlin (heck, I didn't pay for any of my rares), but I never felt it was worth 1 mil. That was just a round figure people pulled out of the air IMHO and by level 60 most venos are able to pay it so they don't really question it. I always had it pegged at being worth about 600k.

Post-herc/nix, the frog at 250k and pig at 1 mil are the only rares I feel are close to fairly priced. (The pig simply because there is no other air tank, and it's difficult to judge distance in the air frequently resulting in fighting 2-3 mobs at once.) Pre-herc I thought about 1-1.2 mil was right for the cub. All the others are are way overpriced IMHO. Well, maybe not the cat since everyone seems to want to run around with a kitty chasing them, but that's value due to aesthetics and not functionality.

I'm rich in-game though. So I'll drop 250k without a second thought, while I'll really scrutinize 1+ mil transactions to figure out if they're really worth it.

The rumors about Kowlin being the best lurer pet were likely started by people selling the Kowlin. -lol: Now I know where some of this nonsense starts. b:chuckle

Hey, maybe because some people really like wolves and don't care that it's sucky compared to a few other pets. It's still a rare pet that, according to plenty of people, kicks ****.

Now, if your life revolves around PWI and you spend a week pouting because you couldn't tank an FB boss all by yourself (poor thing), then yes, do your calculatons, find the very very best pet out there, spend days in game and a few hundred real-live dollars and get a herc or pheonix; I promise I won't make fun of you.

As for the price drops... I don't know, dude, sometimes things like that happen. I'll still buy one from you here in a few years when I get up to 60

I just started paying attention to the price of skills. Wow I can't believe my armored bear came with all that stuff (including the very rare pounce) and yet only cost me 800k (found for 650k same day)! Carapest Terror comes with slow which is worth 900k alone and this pet is perfect for applying that skill. It's no wonder some people take so long getting a herc and nix. lol These are pets are much cheaper than I thought considering!

I'm not a farmer - I catch rare pets for the fun, the challange and a break from the grind. Belive me when I say catching them isn't the easiest thing in the world. There are a LOT of venos are rare spawn sites and some *cough*EVGA*cough* will either catch or kill the pet so no one else gets them.

But if I do manage to catch one, since I have all the rares I want (and now my herc), I really have no other use for them except to turn them into coin (which I now need, because of my herc).

There is nothing wrong with trying to sell these pets - or any other item in PW - which is why the Auction House works and West Arch is full of cat shops. I wasn't whining about the drop in price, I was more curious as to why it was happening and if was a Sanctuary-only thing. I correlated the screwed up spawn times with a lot of people being able to get the rare spawns and flooding the market.

Now that I think a bit more about it, the alts/no new player scenarios make sense. In fact, my veno was an alt to start with. b:laugh

tweakz - I know your thoughts about the Eldergoth vs. Kowlin and it really doesn't matter. If you like the Eldergoth, that's fine. I don't and that's fine. It all boils down to your playing style. I wasn't trying to impose my opinion on anyone here - or trying to sell more pets - I was simply asking a question.

You're welcome to your opinion, but so are other people. Let them learn and decide on their own.

If the topic of this post had been "Does tweakz think the Kowlin is a good pet?" then I guess your reply would have been valid. Do you see where I'm coming from?
