What do the white stars on boutique fashion item description mean?

    while not sure here , but doesnt it kinda mean item grade which equates in proportion somehow to how many dyes it takes to color?

    I gathered some data from random people's fashion in City of the Lost. Number in parentheses is number of pigments required; number after the dash is number of white stars.

    sun top (cannot be dyed) - 8 stars
    bikini bottom (4 pigments) - 2
    bikini top (4) - 2
    groom dress (cannot be dyed) - 9
    helmsley coat (12) - 8
    ambassador shorts (1) - 1
    plume heels (2) - 6
    minxxy miniskirt (1) - 1
    sunshine blouse (8) - 6
    medium heels (1) - 2
    swim trunks (6) - 2
    flippety flops (2) - 2
    vixen wrap (random color) (9) - 3
    sundrop gloves (cannot be dyed) - 8
    chipao heels (2) - 3

    I can't see much correlation with anything--item type, number of pigments, amount of skin covered, etc.
