Wizard Macros

Are there any good macros that are good for wizards to make? I'm getting sick of hitting random attacks and smashing my keyboard over and over. Also, is there a method of personalizing the names of macros besides just the number in which you've made them?

Alternating Gush and Pyro is a popular one. I'd also throw in WoP, especially for melee mobs.
It's a debateable issue.0 -
Thanks, I'll mess around with them! Also, thank you to anyone else who posts.[sigpic] [/sigpic]0

gush pyro tends to break.
i use:
Gush, pyro, SS
Gush, SS, SR <- Water mobs. gush for slow and extra time for recast on ss/sr
Gush, SR, pyro, SS <- room 6 and 45 of cube so i dont have to watch and worry about interrupts. (i'm lazy :P)
That said i only use them for bosses really. a bit inefficient for normal grindingI hope that I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider the most enviable of title, the character of an honest man. -George Washington0 -
Eh, mine is just
SS -> Gush -> WotP -> Gush -> Pyro
I usually don't pay too much attention in-game while doing quests and grinding, so macros are the way to go for me, lol.0 -
First I go to the place I'm going to spend some time
Then I check what combinations work
Then I make a macro(s) for that particular place If I find it convenient.
New place = new reserch and possibly new macros.0 -

I agree 100%0 -
gush pryo gush pyro has the best dps on evrything apart from fire water and metal(not 100% sure on metal) uptil 55 at least(not sure after that cos im only lvl55 hehe).
but for grinding i would try putting DP or SS as opener or finisher so u dont get hit as much.
dont forget phoenix too b:laugh but try not to put in force of will cos its cooldown is too long. unless ur grinding on more than 1 mob with diff macros. eg. i was killing taurox assassins scrunchkins and antelope and i was using FoW on the antelope. normally i save FoW for increased life and those annoying mag resist mobs.0 -
Macros suck, don't grind with them you lazy ****.
You save a lot more hiero and get more exp if you manually cast skills."Amour is better suited to rainbow text, because he is a classy lady." - Nakhimov

Ok. I think I may take Amour's advice...for the most part. I may make a morning dew macro so I could [try to] give [useless, vain, and all around generally ineffective due to channel and cast time] support to a cleric in emergencies.
Thank you everyone. That answered my question!b:thanks[sigpic] [/sigpic]0 -
I was kind of not serious. I mean, I'm probably the only wizard who grinds without macros, but it really does help. The variance in matk, any crits you get, and cooldown of spells plays a big roll in why it's more effective to not use macros. Like you can't put sandstorm stone rain sandstorm or gush pyrogram in a macro, but the SS/SR combo is the best water mob killer and gush/pyro is the best dps a mage can do. -channeling also messes up macros.
But you can use them if you want -rolls eyes-"Amour is better suited to rainbow text, because he is a classy lady." - Nakhimov

I didn't use macros for a very long time until they broke the game
Earlier I just pressed my hotkeys constantly and quite often half consciously after a while of grinding. But earlier I could press the hotkey for gush for example, when pyrogram was still being cast and gush was in cooldown, and it worked. Suddenly after some patch it stoped to work. Now If I press a hotkey for a skill, that is in cooldown, it wont be cast. So I have to pay attention to when to press my keys and after a while of grinding it gets quite exhausting.
I tried macros and to my surprise they work. I don't have -channeling gear and my ping is not low, so even pyro->gush->pyro->gush work for me. Now I jut have to look once in a while if my macro didn't stop too early for some reason (this happens rarely) and I can even talk while grinding.0 -
I usually make 2 combos when I grind, one for high damage at first and one with good damage all through.. The reason is I start my high damage combo with GS which has a 15 sec cool down. If I kill the mob before the cool down I use the second combo on the second mob so I dont waste any time.
Once you get GS to a decent level it is a good starter skill, not so good at low levels cause of the range. Old fishing combo (before I got my demon sklls)
GS > SS > Gush > SR > Pitfall
Usually dead before the pitfall but picks off the last sliver of HP if they have any
Gush > Pyro > SR > Gush > Pyro
Usually will hit me once before I kill it but that ain't bad for a quick 2 mob kill
I have found 90% of the time the skill choice is not based on damage but on effect the skill will do. I'd rather do 1k less damage to a mob and slow it but 80% for 6 secs then do the 1k more and reduce mob accuracy. Use a slow skill then high damage skill for example to maximize your hits before you get hit.
I also highly recommend leveling FoW, it is like reverse kiting. The mob runs from you for a sec until the seal wears off. Not great until the seal is longer then the cast time though. One last thing, if you use the pheonix shuve try to get in a gush before hand, the mob will be slowed right after the shuve so it takes him even longer to get back.0 -
My macros depend on the mob I'm fighting. Currently grinding Undines (water based weak to earth).
All spells used lvl 10 (Mountain's Seize lvl9), all masteries lvl 10.
Macros is Sandstorm > Stone Rain > Pifall > Pyrogram (in case Pitfall is interrupted)
So, this is what typical grind session is like.
Normal - SS, SR, PF (dead mob)
Target next mob as last spell casting & fire off macros
Weak - SS, manually cast pitfall. dead mob
Target next mob as last spell casting & fire off macros
Sac assault - SS, manually cast pitfall. dead mob
4 mobs in tight group!!!!!!!
Mountain's Seize
one is sure to be weak/sac assault = dead mob
Mobs all stunned for almsot 6 sec b:laugh
SS = dead mob
Stone Rain = dead mob
next mob casting - FoW (low hp & no charm so better be careful)
SS - dead mob
Magic Resistant (b:angry)
Macros
Fow
IF mob runs near other mobs then Mountain's Seize (may as well get most mobs for mp cost) or sutra then macros....then macros again. Dead mob
etc.
etc.
etc.
Work out what works on mobs you are grinding based on spells you have available. Not everyone's spells same level. Once you have macros set up, be flexible & adapt to situation.0 -
i only use macros on TT bosses so i can be a lazy mage b:laugh
other than that i dont use themSins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze0 -

I just took this up myself. It's awesome SS-Gush-Pyro-SS-Gush-Pyro do it twice then double spark skill usually BT. Makes it so much easier b:victorySpoons you will forever be missed in this community0 -
I see people using all attacks on a mob without knowing what they are doing, they just attack and get hitted. First see what attacks do and what are the best ones for the weakeness of the mob, for example on a metal mob i usually use Divine, then gush to slow it down and then pyro. kill it in 3 attacks. Dont use gush in water mobs like i usually see, just use pit fall. Its not hard to be a wizzard like a lot of people say, just have to know what to use.
Once a wizzard, always a wizzard.0 -

I use Gush too... and Divine is most of the times my opening.. I usually use DP--Gush--SS or pyro and is most of the times a 3 hit kill for all mobs at my current lvl...0 -
