Barb Stats

I currently play a cleric as my main and do a lot of fb runs. I think I'm a pretty good healer and often run into some good tanks. As I'm sure you all have experienced I've also run into some bad tanks. So in an attempt to be better understanding and maybe even better myself as a cleric I want to make and play a barb for a bit. I realize it will take a lot of commitment as I won't get a the true feeling of a barb from just a 20-30 levels so i will push myself to eventually get to 50 at least.

In any event to make a long story short, I am making a vit build. I understand the concept of putting the base amount in str and dex to get axes and heavy armor and the rest in vitality. I have even seen the guide that says how much at each level, but my question is does everyone resort to the guide each time they level up or go running to a tailor and blacksmith or is there an easier method? As an example as a LA cleric I go 6 mag, 2 str and 2 dex every 2 levels. This gets me what I need. Do barbs have a similar equation they use or do I really need to check each time I apply stats?

Thanks

What I usually do is wait till I have 10-15 points to distribute then go to town and decide where to put it. Sometimes if I'm doing TT runs and I end up dying, I just put it all on vit and straighten it out later when I have more points.

for the best barb build (tank build) its 6str, 3vit, and 1 dex every 2 lvls
hybrid: 5 str, 2vit, and 3 dex every 2 lvls
    hope this helps
and you ar best not to go for a DD build you will lvl quickly at lower lvls but kill you latter.
and try reading some of the guides it tels you the stats to put on

I generally visit NPC/forges every tenth level (i.e. since I use axes I adjust at 37,47,57 etc). I decide over the next 10 levels how much str & dex I need and how much I can add for vit. I typically just pump vit over the first few levels (to get the most out use of the increased HP), and then add the str/dex over the following levels. Often I may deviate and add 3 or 4 more dex than I need if I'm close to a crit threshold.
When the going gets tough; Get a tank!
