I never actually made a comment on whether or not the sale was a success or a failure, just what it was a sale on.
You might want to work on your reading comprehension, scridon.

That last bit had nothing to do with anything you said. I do appreciate the fact that you assume it did however.b:laughb:laughb:laugh0 -

Yes, it is a sale on wine mats, this is not the point which is being argued. The point of argument is that the sale is a failure since the mats from the cash shop still cost almost double what they go for on every server. People are using Subs as an example since they are the one case which might cause the mat prices to be anywhere near worthwhile...
The sale is a failure since it provides no benefit to those who use it other than convenience. Which really isn't much since they are paying quite a bit more than the market value for the mats. Put simply, it would be cheaper to sell your 4 gold for the market price, and send out a single worldchat saying "buying mid-high mats for wine 3.5k each" with the location of your catshop in arch. Even at half-price. Given that the vast majority of people only run their FB once, and only wine once for each FB, and that only those with the tabs provide the wine, there isn't even much demand for the wines involved*. Hence, failure. If, as compensation, using wines increased droprates or something during this sale, it would be a different story. If the sale was on all the mats, and not just for those 12 that are listed, it would also be a different story. If these mats had started out being practical to buy in the first place, it would be a different story.
*Venos who do solo runs of FB79 certainly have the time and money to either farm the mats or setup a catshop while they sleep.0 -
I can see one place where this sale might work.
On the newer servers, people who want the highest grade mats for their fb89 wines might find it impossible to find a catshop selling these in the quantities they need, and just choose to shortcut it by buying at cashshop.
Since you cant farm your fb89 mats until you've finished fb89 (wonder which Einstein thought that one up)0 -

Give us new mounts, flyers, fashion, a sale on something people really use like Esos, Teles inventory stones and ... the Jolly Old Jones event.
When you see Gold prices shoot up you know it is a win.
That is the biggest reason why I am happy about this sale. They have had too many good sales in a row and gold prices have gone up substantially because of it. We need a few lame sales in a row to get the price of gold back down to normal levels.
And honestly, 50% off is a pretty good sale (better than most the sales they have), but they cannot do anything about the fact that mat sellers undervalue their product. For some crazy reason the players decided that mats were not worth much and sell them all at relatively low prices (It amazes me that even high herbs are often sold for less than 1k each).0 -

Players are not undervaluing them. If they don't sell them cheap enough, no one will buy them. Its not like everyone can't go mine the mats themselves.Main characters

in my opinion this "sale" does serve one purpose. Possibly bring gold prices down a little. If every week the sale is amazing then people are willing to pay 120k 130k+ for gold because it still saves them $$. Every once in a while they need a sale like this or the teleport stones for example where the sale targets a smaller group instead of the server as a whole.
PWI knows what they are doing. If gold prices get too high eventually some of the F2P players who dont put actual money into the game will quit because they wont be able to afford anything from the boutique. Some things from the boutique are almost essential if you want to PvP(charms, Dragon Orbs, ect.) Now if they quit there will be less people to buy the gold from the cash shoppers, which will lower the price(less demand) but at the cost of PWI losing some of its playerbase.
Well that is my rant.0 -
I agree with those who like these sales that are bringng down the price of gold.
If all we ever had were the "good" sales, then gold prices would do nothing but keep going up. With sales that cater only to specific groups and that most others would ignore, the price of gold is able to fall so that the people who don't charge zhen are still able to buy gold at a reasonable price. This means more people playing overall and gives the people buying zhen more incentive to do so (both buying things for themselves and selling gold to others). This leads to more profit for PWI overall and everyone in-game would have a higher satisfaction, relatively speaking.
... or would those of you complaining about the crappy sales rather have nothing but good sales but see the price of gold at 500-650k each?0 -

Yes they would. The ones that complain are the ones that are selling the gold in the first place.Main characters
