About to start farming pages in FB89, but just want to know if a lvl 89 veno with herc can solo the bosses in FB89 (Eden & Brimstone pit)? I am kinda hoping they are just like the FB79 bosses. Thanks for any advice here b:thanks

    you can tank them

but you inted to do it wined or unwined?

unwined => apoc pages.; but in brimstone, there s a buncha ladies that drains Hp.. and its quite hard solo ;)
I look at all the trollers, and Pvpers.. and know they wouldnt have lasted 30sec on Camelot.

Rules= Know your enemy (players and NPCs) gives you more chances to survive.

Well I figure I will be farming the pages and basically clearing the FB (unwined), so might as well do the bosses too if I can right? Will probably take long but at least there is a chance for something good.

So Eden is better for farming pages I am guessing?

Those girls suck, and not in a good way b:cry

If all you want are pages then I suggest Eden, unwined of course. The antelopes and cactopods suck because they love to run away, but none of the trash is particularly difficult. Beware pulling those two if they have Sacrificial Assault, one shot is all it takes.

As for bosses, someone who has done them all will have to confirm but I believe Phlebo(Eden) has a nasty Pdef debuff and one of the guys in Brimstone has an amp dmg curse (Abomination maybe?) so you will likely have to avoid them. I've only done 1K Year Spirit and Ninetail but both are pretty easy, mostly healing at my level but some nukes are definitely possible.

Yeah Phlebo is hard. I tried to solo him with my Herc and ended up dying. You either need another Veno or a tank/cleric combo for him. Ninetails and 1K Spirit aren't hard.

As for Brimstone, the Horseman boss and Fats aren't too difficult. Easy to solo heal. Ethereal Abomination is annoying. He randomly switches aggro so you might get glomped. Have sparks ready for Bramble Hood or Feral Conc if you have it. I have tanked him with another Veno to help heal.

Is it just me or do the bosses drop **** when you solo them? I recently soloed Eden up to the last boss. The first two bosses barely dropped anything. No 3-stars or books and barely any equips. I got a tank/cleric combo to help with Phlebo and got a book and three star off him. Has anyone else gotten a skillbook when soloing?

Yeah Phlebo is hard. I tried to solo him with my Herc and ended up dying. You either need another Veno or a tank/cleric combo for him.

Here is what works, after clearing all adds:

    1. Stand close to the pillar (personal favorite, YMMV) in fox form.
    2. Buff and send herc at Phlebo, spam heal it.
    3. Keep an eye on general chat, Phlebo speaks just before it curses with the debuff curse. That debuff is what causes the herc's early demise.
    4. As soon as you see Phlebo speak, call herc back using "follow" (don't put pet away), but continue healing herc.
    5. Watch the curse animation in green, near Herc's head. Phlebo switches to a weaker ranged magic attack if tank (herc) has moved away.
    6. The moment the curse animation disappears, send herc back at Phlebo, continue healing herc.
    7. Watch for Phlebo to speak again. Sometimes it is just once, sometimes up to 4 times in my experience. If Phlebo speaks, repeat from step 4.
    8. Watch Phlebo die, then loot the drops.

Phlebo's aoe attack with the red glow is fairly negligible, barely tickled me in fox form at level 88. I wear Light Armor, but I doubt that is relevant. As long as your herc is alive, you should be fine.

I have seen Phlebo do a couple of big damage spikes, not noted at what HP percentage these happen. Also, Phlebo occasionally random aggros for a moment, so you could get hit, but that is the weak magic attack, so survival is not an issue. The herc's bash (or other aggro skill, pounce is NOT useful) grabs Phlebo back soon enough; move around a bit if you have to till it does.

The one time my herc died on a damage spike, I simply jumped off the cliff - having cleared all mobs below it previously, for this eventuality. Phlebo could not follow, it reset, and I came back up and started all over again.

    Hope this helps.

Often, and sometimes even two skill books in one kill. Also, sometimes no useful drops.

Thanks Prowler. That strategy worked like gangbusters. Only problem I had was luring the posion and ranged phys adds away from the boss. Also, Phlebo tends to switch aggro too. Gave me a few scares when he turned my way a few times, but Herc managed to keep aggro everytime. Also, he didn't use his aoe. Just that slow channeling aoe which didn't affect me much. So I stayed in human form and threw Ironwood's when I could.

Wow, I used Prowler's technique in tanking Phlebo and it worked really well. Thanks for the advice.

Wow. So many people didn't know Phlebo debuffed. I've never had to use that strategy with my herc, but I also have good -% chan gear. In pinches where I needed to heal faster I have used apothecary (which I no longer carry that pot). It also helped me squeeze in an amp.

Has anyone tried "soloing' him with a mystic?

I know its not actually a solo but I listed it as such since you are in a way soloing him if you are multiclienting your mystic b:laugh

I would think it would be easier especially if you have your mystic healing ur herc as well.

Their pet will do damage until it dies, but u can resummon it again pretty quickly.
