I Tried Ffxi Before, Theyre Having Their 7th Anniversary Event, Its Pretty Decent. I Had A 72 White Mage/paladin Combo, And It Just Got Really Boring After A While. I Mean, Sure There Was Stuff To Do, But Deleveling.. And Losing Buttloads Of Experience And Finding Parties Got To Be A Big Hassle.

I Think Erethizon Has It Pretty Darn To The Point On Why I Like Pwi More. It Should Be About The Journey And Not Really Where The Game Takes You Once Youve Maxed Your Char.

Does a larger population in this game translate to a stronger economy overall? Or to easier to buy items from players? In FFXI smaller population servers are actually easier to buy stuff from price wise.

FFXI I will never quit, because Square Enix will never raise the level cap, and I am max level. Its very much a personal state of mind I have. If I reach the max level that to me means I care enough about the game and I enjoy it enough to stick with it tru thick and thin. Otherwise, ill be willing to leave the game and the people I met on it at any given time for a shinny new game that comes out.

You will never reach the level cap in this game.

This game was designed in such a way that its purposely unattainable.

The cap is really intended to be 100. People can level past that, by design.

    Visit:

    http://asiapworld.com/pw/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=23&Itemid=43

    and you will understand.

The exp-requirement curve for 1 through 100 is tame. There are games which require the amount of exp to level from 99 to 100 at level 70. And you earn the exp at the same rate.

Level 100+ the Curve is steep by design. Its to allow players to feel like they are "getting somewhere" or give a sense of progress.

Furthermore, you have other uses for spirit and exp you attain at those levels... Like levelling a genie now.

However, the level 100+ experience requirements are also steep because of the power difference between a level 100 player and a level 9x player. IF and WHEN they attain their TT100 weapons, you'll understand.

Is playing a Blade Master expensive?

How long can I play the game before I start to notice myself in need of the item mall and unable to farm enough money to buy the items I need within a reasonable amount of time?

Well the thing about FFXI is it actually provides you with a ton of stuff to do at mid and at high levels. Maybe not a lot at low levels but once your level 50 you can do about 6 months of in game content without ever leveling again, and without repeating any of the content twice, At max level the game has 3 dedicated expansions of content to do, each of which will take the most dedicated players assuming they have friends available at all times to do them about 3 months to finish. Most players take over a year to finish one expansion. On another note.

If PW is really that fun to level in, if the journey is really all that enjoyable, then I will have no problem with it if its really that blow your socks off amazing fun that I normally get at higher levels.

If I recall correctly, the level cap of FFXI was 50 when the game first started though it could have been 60. By the time it was released in the USA the level cap was already 70 and it was raised to level 75 during the time I played. Frankly I am surprised they have not raised it again in all those years, but maybe you are right that they truly are done raising the level cap. Regardless, the game did have things to do when you hit 50+ because that used to be the cap.

I do not remember the higher level content being that fun, but then again I usually find so-called "end game" content to be some of the worst content most games have. If I am tired of grinding for levels what on earth makes people think I would want to grind even bigger creatures that take even longer to kill for no experience whatsoever (since I am already capped)? I swear, the concept of raiding baffles me. It is like an even more boring version of regular grinding. But who knows, there have probably been at least one or two expansions in FFXI since I played so maybe it is better by now. I really did love the job switching feature of that game. I never play alts so FFXI was the first time I really got a chance to try out different classes.

Blademasters are one of the cheapest classes in the game since they do not have the repair bills that tanks have nor do they go through mana as fast as casters.

How long you can go before you feel you need an item mall depends on the player. I am a pack rat and I felt like I needed inventory expansion stones almost right away, but some people go forever without any. When you look at the items in the item mall you will notice that most of them are fluff. There are a few that are nice (like a mount for faster travel) but that is not necessary at all (I never got one). Charms that regenerate hp and mp are nice, but there are potions that drop in the game and can be purchased from merchants so those are not necessary either. Depending on your attitude you may never feel you need items from the item mall. If you are the kind of person that thinks downtime is unforgivable then you might want item mall items rather quickly, but seeing as how you played FFXI I imagine you will find you can go a long time (perhaps even forever) without anything from the item mall.

I just want to make sure I fully understood one last time please. I still find it hard to believe. Especially now that I am actually looking at the beautiful game.

If I work hard, if I do not mind farming some hours a week. I can actually play this game for free all the way up to lvl 80 (where some one in game told me, I need to buy some item, I think he said 50 as well). But up to those levels then I don't have to spend a dime until I get to those levels?

He also said at level 50 if you really try hard to farm you can make 100k an hour? Is this true?

I am also wondering if anyone on here would be willing to answer some more of my silly questions in game. My Character Name is Narvik, *Like the Norwegian Town* :)

I'd be happy to answer any question you have, if you end up going to Sanctuary :) Just toss me a whisper, and if I'm on, I'll get it :)

You won't even need to spend the cash at 50 or 80. Plenty of people still sell the hammers for the (completely optional though highly useful)supply stashes for 500k or so on Sanctuary. You may have to save a bit more coin than you normally would to have it by 50, but once you hit 80, the 500k for that box won't seem like much at all.

... Assuming you don't just start using the Auctioneer to convert your coin t Gold and buy the hammers directly from the boutique. Anyone can make it through the game without spending a single penny on it and still have cash shop items.

A friend of mine recommended Runes of Magic to me as well, but after reading their message boards last night I can't see why you were even considering it. The cash shop in that game appears to be extremely necessary and even most of the auctions at the auction house are requiring people to use cash shop money to buy the items instead of in game coin (though they appear to be removing this features tomorrow). Not only that, but the price to buy one cash shop coin using in game coin appears to be super high and causing a lot of complaints. In Perfect World a cash shop gold is actually quite affordable and you really do not need any cash shop items at all (though I would hate to play without an expanded inventory). Still though I had all the inventory expansion items even when I was really low level by simply focusing the money I earned on buying those (instead of buying potions like many players do).

Well I am giving PW a shot first, So far Its a very solid game. I have met some really nice people on here already who are more than happy to answer a lot of my questions.

Seems like this is probably one of the best F2P games out there.

To answer the question above about why even try RoM, as I stated before hand I am the kind of person that looks forward to getting max level, Its just who I am. How I play mmorpgs. Some may dislike it but I happen to enjoy being max level and just running around helping lower level players out, doing raids, dungeons, and max level pvp & quests. Its what I strive for.

In this game getting Max level is very very time consuming compared to RoM, Considering I am looking for a Casual backup mmorpg to FFXI, A game with as much of a grind/time sinik as this may not be my best option. This is why I am considering a game with only a lvl 50 level cap which can be gotten in about 2 months.

This game has the option of being 100% free 2 play and all CS items can be gotten in game though that really really impressed me a lot. Even though the Item mall here is super expensive, its really not required at all to spend real money. In Other mmorpgs, RoM, only the most Basic cash shop needs you can get tru in game means not anything else, which I am not to crazy about. This is why this game is still probably a better choice in an economical aspect.

    ROFL!
Perfect World International is realy free game. Real money can u give more comfort, but everything is possible to get without real money. Yes! But real money always helps - you, other players, servers crew.
If u can pay and play if u can't pay - just play.
This game is REALY worth playing. (i've played realy a lot of "free" games... and PWI is most friendly, not greed part of games world universe.)

(The only hard thing to acceptance is that wolf transform into white tiger and u must b women to play strongest class:D)

YES! U can b as strong as the strongest without paying. U can b as good in party as good player u can b. It depends of your play skill not cash. People who pays for this game know how to play well, play well and pay 'cos they know - this game is GREAT!
