on this quest, I need to get 50 hays. The mat does not drop for me and even if it does. I should not use it for the quest as the market price is about 5k in santuary.

So, I need 50 hay and the quest reward is 22,300 coins, 37,200 exps and 6000 spirits.

Saying this, what is the purpose behind this quest?b:chuckle

    Wait, you were actually stupid enough to farm on lv 30 mobs with a 3% drop chance instead of farming on high level mobs..

    Gain more exp, gain more spirit. Selling the DQ drops and then buying Hay for outragous prices and still making more money because 3 days of farming for DQs on monsters your level would have given you so much EXP and spirit and you probably would have leveled + gotten more gold?

    Well considering I had nothing better to do and it was easy. what is the point of buying hay at that price when I can take some time out of my day to farm for free with little to no repair bill cost.

    It only takes a few hours, I've done it before. Since I'm not always for a liberal view of personal gain, I also stay out there to help people doing quests (the 50ish ones I guess). I highly doubt 3 days means 72 hours.

    I guess we are confused here. Even if you get the hay for free.

    You should sell it and buy quests books and stuff at AH.

    For instance 50 hay @ 5k= 250k coins. You can get more exps per coin by doing it this way.

    The price for hay in many cat shops in santuary is 7k actually.

    I suppose, but for an hour I can get the same amount of money if I just grind on my mobs my level. So I get exp and money.

    There is no single right way to do anything. b:pleased What I can say is right could be wrong to someone else. Do what you want, whether or not someone thinks is stupid. Honestly, there are a lot of stupid looking characters in game but I bet you the person who made 'em thinks they're the coolest looking evAr.

    The entire point of this quest is to make you come here and post about it, then decide it's not worth the aggrevation of trying to complete it.

    If there were a decent chunk of rep involved.....maybe. Totally up to you though. For the value of 50 hay you could just go get a 70 or 75 Oracle and save a bunch of time.

    Well, if you factor in the Rep.... this quest started to actually look good.

    When the game was made the designers had no idea that people would actually be crazy enough to spend 5k+ on hay. The quest would be quite doable if not for the crazy high price that people are willing to pay for such a low level item.

    50 x 5k is a minimum of 250k. you can get hay for as low as 3k on my server, thats not even that much 0,0

    Says the veno with herc. We really are a bunch of arrogant **** when it comes to money.

    The point I was making is that for the investment, there are faster/easier ways to get achieve the same end goal (exp). Coins may be renewable, but time is not.

    I'm only level 74.5 at the time... but i have managed to gather all 50 of my Hay sense turning 74. Yes the drop rate is lowered A LOT due to my level vs. the pups level. But there is a large aspect in this game to make you work as a team. I simply took two lower level members from my faction. Together, in about 2 hours time, we had almost all of the hay.
    The game is about team work and working as a team. Squad a level 40-ish player and go kill some pups. :)

    The trouble with that plan is that in the same amount if time you could have ground at a minimum 10x the exp and double the coin value.

    I'm all for doing every quest, this one just doesn't make sense when you think about all the factors.

    I think the bigger issue should be why is the game sending a level 70+ player to hunt dont items only dropped by level 20-30 mobs? With all of the other beasts in the 72-78 range why not let one of them drop the hay? If they are all bent on level 75 players hunting down hay why not make it 5 hay and 50 of the thin rope and 50 of the Adalwolf's Bone?

    The easiest solution got the least amount of attention... DROP the quest and ignore it.

    I did this quest easily in about an hour and a half.
    The trick is to create a hay farmer.
    A friend taught me a great method for this, and I can rake in a few 100k's a day if I get bored enough to do it...
    But I am ADHD as hell ~_~

    So I shall share with you :)

    You create a psychic, do all the quests up to archosaur, get your fb19 soulsphere, grab a few genies and head to Rhinodrake Megaliths at level 20, with a Jones' Blessing and a pure magic build (1 strength, 4 magic) you can 3hit them and sometimes even 2hit them. When you get close to leveling, pour exp into your genie, this way you can sell hay and sexy genies ;/

    If you have the time to do this, I suggest this highly, as when I am in need of coin, I can EASILY sell hay at 12.5k each on DW.

    And if I afk catshop, I can sell 100 as high as 15k in a single night.

    1 str, 4 mag isn't a pure mag build... you only need 1 str every other level for arcane robes.
