So, right now, after loving being an Axe BM, I've started to wonder if it would be a good idea for me to start using polearms as well. I know a bunch of people specialize into two different paths, does that ever actually work out? Or is it too much of a hassle to switch back and forth inbetween fights?

you could use all 4 trees if you wanted and its not really hard to switch your weapons just drag them onto a hotkey.

You do run into spirit and coin issues sometimes when going multiple paths, you just have to make sure your leveling the skills you really prefer, in each individual tree. It can be done, and is done all the time. I am stating this BM to be able to carry the latest axe, pole or sword, and only a slightly lower level fist, being that I only be using fist for shadowless kick, and cyclone heel. And, depending on my HP, I may restat later on to be able to carry the latest fists also.

But, Axe and pole are a good combo. You get your radial AOE's with your axe, and you get your range and speed with pole. Not a bad way to go.
Don't let my level confuse you. I've done this before.

My opinion is that regardless if you go to hybrid or single path. These two skills are a must to have at level 1 at least:

Drakebash (axes) for the guaranteed stun
Shadowless Kick (fists or unequiped) to cancell mag attacks.

To get shadowless you will get Vacous Palm. Since you will get it to get shadowless, a good use for this skill is to apply it with a bleed skill then leap back or use a knockback skill.

This will create range and mob will take a while to return to you due to slow down of this skill and at the same time damage trough time due to bleed. You can attack with range skills or bow.

    good luck.

As stated before, yes there are a lot of issues with being short on coin and SP, but I personally am already working around that to max out all the skills I currently want, and the answer is...

    THE GENIE! *gasp*

I'm just doing my Crazy Stone every day, grinding 10-20% a day, and helping friends and guildies with FBs, here is how it all works though...

Once you are done for the day, repair your gear, sell all the stuff you picked up durring the day, then give all the exp to your genie. It keeps you at your lvl, so you aren't constantly needing more and more sp for skills, gets you money from selling all those DQ items and gear you pick up, and gets your Genie to your lvl.

This is best to do when you are going for 2 very different skills like I am, doing Axe and Fist.

Using Axe and Fist, don't you have to have 3str and 2dex per level? How do handle grinding with 5 vit?

You can't do Axe and Fists unless you will leave your Vit at 5.

Fist kills fast, mobs that are mixed magic/phys dmg only get their initial cast interrupted, and then die before getting the 2nd one. So they can use phys marrow no problem. Fast killing with lots of spark gain makes healing yourself very easy. Also, max health is really for spike damage, AoE, and PvP; grinding mobs 1 on 1 just depends on how much you can heal during set amount of time. And extra vit doesn't add too much to that.

For AoE, it just might mean you won't be able to solo as many at a time as other people, though buying high phys res bonus gear and vit adds then socketing them makes up for alot of the deficiency. Also means better chance to hit and damage as well. So far grinding has been easy up to lvl 63 on my BM with their 5 vit, since I have vit gear and item swaps for when I need more health.

I grind with vit on 3 and many others do.

The multy path allows you to deal good constant damage.
