Safety Not Working For PVP

Since this weeks updates my massive area attacks are hitting anyone in the surrounding area of me unless i am squaded with them. This wouldnt be wrong except all of my protections are on. I have double checked them, however my wife is having the same problem. I was red for 4 hours during/after a wraith event 2 days ago, and my wife just a few minutes ago killed a white named player while her name was also white with her massive area attack. Any info on this glitch would be greatly appreciatted. The only thing I have changed is the blessing healing filters were turned on.
