As the title asks, with an arcane build, which is better to use for ornaments: pdef or elemental resist? My pdef is only 172 and I'm finding that I'm a little squishy right now.

Eventually, since you are an arcane user, you will run into the diminishing returns of elemental resist. pDef is much harder to get high as Arcane so "more" is better.

Personally i use Pdef to try to balance arcane out a little and because i've managed to find somewhat decent add ons for those. I think whatever your choice may be, good bonuses are necesary on ornaments. +Mag and +Hp are my favorite but this really is a matter of preference.

Unlike armor where the stat requirements pretty much limit you to just one or two types, ornaments have no requirements. So you can get both pdef and elemental resist belt and necklaces and switch between them as the situation requires.

Well I've been focusing on pdef stuff. Right now I have 1524 pdef in human form. In fox it's 3253. I still take lots of dmg from phys attacks. You will be getting 1-shot or nearly 1-shot as pure arcane if you don't pump your phys def.

id say mix them a little it wont hurt. also add vit to your build some, itll contribute to def and who would more hp kill?

An arcane user should definitely use phys def necklaces and belts. Arcane armor already gives you good enough magic defense for most situations, but as you mention, you're squishy against physical attacks. Since your physical defense is so low to begin with, even adding a little bit to your physical defense will make a big difference.

i would say use pdef items. wearing arcane gives high enough mag resist as it is. having more pdef sometimes helps when u get melee by mobs or when there is physical AOE from bosses b:cry another thing is, get some hp. who knows, it might allow u to survive just that one more hit from a mob before ur charm ticks or anything b:chuckle

pdef for pvp, and its your pick in pve depending on what mobs you run into a lot. i personally carry both types in my inventory.
