How to zhen with a herc w/o aggro

How do you do it?
I know one of the perks to owning a herc is that you can send it into a bunch of mobs and it will draw the aggro from them, but how do you keep the aggro on the herc while still using your magic to attack? Is it a matter of you just healing the herc and letting him kill them all on his own? Will Noxious Gas work without the mobs attacking you?

Also, is there a way for a veno to participate in a normal zhen?

Thank you all for taking the time to respond.

The physical reflect helps keep argo. Aside from that, don't attack too often.b:chuckle

Venos can lure mobs in normal zhen.

I don't think you really mean zhen. It sounds like you just mean fighting more than 1 mob. Reflect is enough allow you to heal the herc, without being attacked. But if you start AOE the mobs, they will turn immediately on you.

The way to do it, is send your herc in and bash an opponent, let him attack until bash is almost ready to use again. Then change targets and bash another. Keep doing this until you have as many as you want. Depending on how close they are, I usually fight 4 or 5 at a time.. more than that, and usually the first ones , will start turning on you.

Once the herc has bashed them all. Then you can start nuking, and AOE. Usually this works. If you do draw aggro. There is a big trick that has kept me alive many, many times. As soon as you see a mob turn away from herc, hit esc button. Wait just a sec, and you will automatically select the one that is coming at you. Then tell herc to bash/attack. He should take aggro back with first bash.

You will have to practice to figure out the correct number, and the correct technique for each mob. But this is the basic idea.

You should be able to single target the one the herc is attacking and heal as needed since it has reflect, that way the mobs will die faster, and there will be less chance of pulling aggro off the herc.

Solo aoe grinding for veno is hardly any faster than single mob grinding. What's the point?b:thanks

I haven't found aoe grinding to be any faster. By the time you get them all round up and have enough aggro on each to start aoe, you've spent as much time as if you just single pulled. Pulling multiple mobs and single nuking them is the way to go imo, gets a head start but you don't have to worry about getting whacked.

it may not take any less time, but it sure is awesome to see one herc surrounded by 7 or 8 big mobs

    good stuff

Oh I agree completely. I still round up a bunch to aoe from time to time, if nothing else it breaks the monotony that is grinding. The time may not actually go by faster, but at least it seems to.

:O for me, i do single mob nuking most of the times during grinding since its faster. the only time ever for AOE grinding solo is when i see a bunch of mobs close together and i just send herc out b:chuckle then all the mobs just basically gather around and i just heal + AOE kill them b:victory
