PvP and PvE

I've been reading the forums straight for a couple of days, and from what I've read it seems that LA, Vit, or any other hybrid build is meant for PvP while pure Mag is suited for PvE. All the threads make all of the builds viable, but I am indecisive at the moment. (I knew I shouldn't have entered the forums. This happens every time I start an MMO. I read up on builds and am influenced/confused by others.)

Although I'm sure that there have been countless threads before like mine, I'm posting this because I am slightly concerned with my LA build. I was thinking I could restart and go pure for the first 20-30 or so levels and see how it goes.

More likely if you go pure, you will stay pure up to lv70+....and go LA, or any other pvp build then. No use trying to be a pvp build until then and just worry about lving as fast as you can

I can't say that vit build is only for pvp... I have >1k hp for now and still kill most mobs in 3-4 hits - and never die if not AFK. I've leveled vit build up to 47lvl on another server and it suits well for pve, especially solo. Never regretted that angry restat from pure on these hard later 2X lvls, now went vit from 1lvl b:victory

I wouldn't say pure magic is the greatest for PvE, especially when you start doing TT runs past level 70. Yes, my cleric isn't a high enough level to do those yet, but I've done it plenty of times with a full int wizard to tell you that you just can't live through it (Namely, 1-3). Doesn't help when the boss hits you for 1k more than your max HP, even when you do have bb up. And, as rule and thumb, if the cleric dies, the party wipes.

Yes, pure magic heals better, but a dead cleric can't heal at all.

Pure Mag is the fastest way to get to 60-70ish...then you can restat if you wish for the harder phys AoE bosses. That's what the gold auction is for ^^

The only thing that outgrinds a pure Mag cleric in those levels is a Veno. Round about 70ish the fastest grinder becomes the BM or the Veno with a Phoenix. Tough to say. Cleric is 2nd or 3rd respectively with AoE grinding. But really...why? Get a good group together.

Exactly, always start off as pure to grind and lvl fast. Starting pure also means you can just add vit at any time to make hybrid if needed. At earlier stage, it's also possible to switch from pure to LA without restating if you're willing to be underpowered for a few levels. Pure is the most flexible build. Once you go vit or LA, you can never go back without restating.
