ok u will need 2 for the earlier levels...

u will use earth and water barrier the most

but it really depends on ur play style

i kite ALOT so i really didnt use my earth shield much... i prefer to solo a mob then healing myself so i upgraded water shield more than earth shield just for the mana regen boost
if ur having lots of troubel with mele mobs try kiting or u could try upgrading earth barrier

well some people say that pyroshell is almost useless so that must not level yet...
Stone Barrier is for PVP and you may lelve after lvl 55-60. And I prefer glacial embrace is thebest ofr PVP if you are skilled and talented...you can kite the archers and melee Mobs specialy if you use gush skill...

Level up earth barrier to ~5, then once you start grinding on fire/water mobs, level those up respectively. Earth barrier is useful for pvp, that's about it. Oh, and earth mabs.

Well not exactly, cause from 60+ you'll kill them before they hit you (force of will for example), so in that case glacial embrace has my preference. But indeed, pvp (allthough I don't have much to tell about that).

Well, depends on many factors. At low (<20) levels I am using mostly Pyroshell and Glacial Embrace. Stone Barrier is of no use for me, as I am robe user for now, and 12% or 15% phys. res. do not make difference. 3% is about 2HP per hit at this time and Pyroshell restores 3HP per sec. It also continues to restore 3HP per sec even you are not being hit, so it seems to be more useful. Well, at least for now. With light armor or higher bonus (50% at lvl 29) Stone Barrier becomes more useful, if you allow to be hit.

So, I'm planning to stop leveling Pyroshell and Glacial Embrace for now, as they are not useful any more (at least for HP and MP regen). You can use pots instead and save some spirit leaving them at level 1.

95% of mobs are magic past 60. Leveling it to 5 is to benefit from phys mobs early on.

Glacial Embrace is also incredibly useful for grinding on underwater mobs that gives u an exp bonus b:victory

I loooove it personally because herbing and glacial = longer mp charm life b:pleased

Fire shell is useless unless you find yourself tanking fire mobs. In most cases you'll kill them before they hit you.

Glacial embrace is your primary shield while grinding to preserve mana.

Stone Barrier is extremely useful for earth mobs and phys def when you get a bit bigger and start PK\TW it will be your primary shield. Early on its helpful for ranged earth mobs, but during your early levels you should still kill them before they get to you.

For now just focus on Glacial Embrace.

fire shell only gets useful past 40 when you'll be dealing with pyros.

earth mobs are annoying because we have nothing to hit their elemental weakness but... there aren't many of them until you reach 50 so don't upgrade it despertaly. do it when you happen to deal with that sort of mob.

Actually I find pyroshell extremely useful at low lvls (my mage is lvl 12 right now, so yes, I am a noob b:cute) since it increases regen to 2 points per second, which meditation doubles to 4 pps. And a HP regen of 4 pps when your max HP is around 300 is pretty damn quick.

Currently I find myself never running out of mana and my phy def as a pure is waaayyyy too low for the added values to make a difference.

But at later levels I definitely think my pyroshell would stay at a low lvl.
