I was wondering if experienced players could list the strengths and weaknesses of the 2, and where you would make best use of one over the other.

    the main weakness for phoenix is that it can't be used in most instances.. not even nightscream island which is an outdoor instance like TW..

    herc's main problem is that while he can take alot of damage.. he can't dish alot out.. I mean at lvl 83, he does like 1100-1200 to the bosses in TT1-3.. my lvl 81 kowlin does like 1400.. (but dies after 1 or 2 hits) :P

    We could all learn a lot from crayons, some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names (like chartreuse), and all are different colors....BUT they ALL exist very nicely in the same box!

    lol thats not a bad trade off AT ALL.

    But I always suggest to people to get a herc first. Pheonix is just used for the bugged flesh ream. And they only kill a little bit faster than normal grinding if you're pure arcane build.

    Can either one be used under water? If not, what's a good underwater pet?

    Nope...I just go and pick up the highest lvl turtle I can for water quests. Right now I'm using a Tortoise everlasting which is lvl 52 base. Mine is 55 from questing but he still works pretty good. I'll have to ditch him later on for something higher though.

    personally, I have a celestial plumpfish (lvl 80 mob) and I can use it to tank dragon of the depths :)
