You guys don't do american express anymore :(

Because, I tried using both of my AE giftcards and neither of them are working :(

I have used many AE giftcards before, but today they just don't wanna work :(

so what's the deal?

    Hello,

    Have you already attached a physical address to the card?

    What payment method were you attempting to use the gift card through and was it direct credit or did you use an account with that payment solution?
    (I am only assuming PayPal since that is your most recent one)

    How many attempts did you make?

    Please answer those questions and I can help you further.

    No, I didn't attach an address. But when I've used AE gift cards before, I've never has to attach an address. And yeah I tried through Paypal, and it didn't work. It just charged a dollar to the card for some reason. :(

    Then I tried again the next day and it still didn't work.
    So I bought a different 50 dollar AE gift card, and that didn't work either :(
    It just did that charge a dollar to the card thing again.

    And I just did a direct payment, because if I sign in through my paypal account it automatically chooses a gift credit card that I used before :(

    Ah I see now what is happening. The $1 charge is just an authorization and that will occur no matter what payment solution you go through and pay direct debit. This is because they need to check and see if the funds are available for the purchase and they do so with that $1 test transaction. Now, that reduces the amount left on your card from $50 to $49 so if you are attempting a $50 purchase, that is why they have been failing. You can either attach the new cards to a PayPal account and pay that way (they should go right through) or you will need to try a payment amount that is smaller. In the future, if at all possible, you should add that $1 to the card before you attempt the purchase and then you can fully drain the card once more.

    Ok, cool, yeah! I didn't know how to link a card to Paypal account, but I tried that! and it worked!!

    I just couldn't do the 50 dollar option :( no bonus zen for me!

    oh well!!
