Actually, you're wrong: people will still KS each other even if mobs are overly abundant, and they won't necessarily try to avoid KSing each other.

Also, where are these mobs that have so few spawns and are so far apart that no one would ever stand a chance of tagging one with an archer there?

Snowmen. Snowmen were like this. That's when I went and got a bow. It was quite fun taking kills from archers.

@OP: I can see where someone would be worried that you were keeping enough damage on the boss to try for a KS at the end if you just started firing away throughout the process. It would be hard for them to judge how much of the damage you were doing. If you really just want to speed along the wait for a boss, wait until it is almost half gone and then ask before shooting. Complaining about not being trusted when you did neither of these simple things to engender trust is a bit touchy, I'd say.

how do you figure that? people will still ks purposefully even with an abundance of mobs around? that doesn't make sense and it's not efficient for anyone, especially since you can squad, or just turn around and hit something else. again, i dont see ksing much in general.

gilded princesses...10 mysteriouswood fruits, no squadding,

same mob, 50 Hsuan iron ores

it seemed so harmless, until you realize at any given moment a mob of players are after these, that got old real fast. people were sprinting, distance shrinking, stream orbing even. the former was possibly the most frustrating stuff to do before your much anticipated FB59, the latter quest didnt help either. they spawned over a large area.

    also, certain flying mobs

I didn't actually say anything or use the word "purposeful". Please refrain from twisting my words and making them say something that isn't there, but nice attempt to twist my words without actually quoting what I said.

On that note, what I meant was that if two players are attacking the same mob, they won't necessarily move onto a different mob until the mob is dead because they both want the kill for whatever reason (loot, quest, XP, or some other reason).

"Kill Stealing" is biased based on the perspective of the player using the term meaning the player believes the kill belongs to them, and them alone, and if someone else comes along that they are taking the kill or took the kill away from them. Except no one actually owns the kill until the mob is dead.

At no point is anyone required to "turn around and hit something else" because both players have just as much right to the mob.

The last part: OMG THAT ARCHER JUST OUTRANGED ME AND TAGGED THAT MOB!!! I GUESS I SHOULD IGNORE THAT OTHER MOB HE CANNOT ATTACK OVER HERE.
