I dont know how every is handling their herc pass lvl 80.
cause herc is loose aggro for me already.
If i start with iron, i have to wait for a sec before casting another spell
else mob be on me pretty quick.
and i know why, cause herc physical attack isnt getting much improvement.
as i can see it, this will be more an issue as i lvl up more.

    Herc have bash 5 atm.

every lvl i advance my magic increase.
herc's physical attack increase by very little.
every pet skill bash, flash ren or other skill scale of physical attack.
if the pet physical attack is so poor, i cant see how herc going to be advantage later on.

its like heavy veno lvl 80 using lvl 40 weapon to tank..
you going to loose the aggro soon unless people stop attack for a while
and let you gain aggro again.

Yeah I only have problems with aggro in dungeon runs with other people. Normal grinding or by myself in FB19-39, I can keep aggro easily with pounce. I didn't get bash. Right now I'm using a wheel of fate.

You just have to stop and let the pet deal damage for like two seconds in the beggining. I still grind fast though. This is 1 hour grinding near tusk town...rarely ever need pots so it's all profit :

I think your better off getting the nix. Unless your a crafter making a career on TT runs. IMO you wont get your money or exp out of a herc for a long time and it slows down your leveling.
With a pheonix you have a good air pet and a good PvP pet later on.

It's mostly about what your doing that decides your pet summon. The math as far as leveling/money goes to the nix.

On the ground use a golem especially if your max mag, nothing else will keep agro, even that won't if your cheap on skills or just lazy to use them.

If you get a herc first, that's one more pet to keep at level and worse you have to pay for it which takes some time or real cash.

I've seen a lot of Venoms grinding with hercs getting 5-8 mobs on it watching it kill them, tossing in an AOE when the cooldowns done, it's like watching a disk defrag.
Not only is it a slow way to level, where a cheap golem does the work in half the time. it can slow the spawn in busy areas irritating everyone around them.

    So nix first IMO

Really though wait till you need one. It's not like you'll stand out of the crowd with one.
I don't have either not in a TW guild and TT farming gets old, my golems made enough to pay for either or both.

    Which to get first?! Simple:

If you plan to farm TT to make money, get Herc.
If you plan to grind to make money, get phoenix.
I've seen a lot of Venoms grinding with hercs getting 5-8 mobs on it watching it kill them, tossing in an AOE when the cooldowns done, it's like watching a disk defrag.

Why people kill like this, I have no idea. Phoenix would kill 20 mobs in the time it took to gether and aoe kill those 5-8. Alternativly moving 1 mob to another instead of grouping would still prob kill those 5-8 mobs in half the time. Unless you manage to spark + crit/1shot the mobs ,gathering them is highly inefficent.

god, wtf is with all these repeat threads, cant anyone read..?

Herc = solo TT squad, and if you can find 3 ppl, make 20m in about 10 days if youre lucky.

@ person who steals aggro from their herc
wait till herc punches it a few times, you dont buy him for his stats, hes made for his tanking skills. open with ironwood, then move to noxious gas. its slower cast and channel time and great chi increase make it optimal for keeping aggro on herc, be wary when other mobs are nearby though or else you risk death.

@person asking if its easy to steal aggro on bosses
unless youre higher level than the boss, most times youre going to have reduced dmg on it via the dmg reduction/lower level ratio. itll be hard to steal :P.

    overall herc > phoenix

    @people who say phoenix makes money;
    soloing < TT. period.
