Kiting for noobs?

My faction mate told me kiting was for noobs when I told one of our lower level archers he better learn to kite or he's going to die a lot. To me personally I think kiting is essential for any ranged class unless you can one shot everything. I told him I'd duel him to show him, because as a cleric, he said he's got the HP and heals to be in my face and take me out. I tried to tell him if he let me get in his face like that I was going to eat him because I have the HP+charm to take his magic damage.
Our archer: lvl 21
Cleric faction mate: lvl 44
Me, teh panda barbarian: lvl 52
My strategy and thinking:
Mighty Swing-stun for 4 seconds>Penetrate Armor-lowers defense>Garrote-bleed DoT>Slam and normal attacks possibly Firestorm for more DoT, while I wait for my other skills to cooldown. If he's not dead by then, I'll start the cycle over again.
His strategy and thinking:
I don't really know what his attacks are. But he said he'd just use Ironheart Blessing because it stacks and he regains HP x3 or something like that.
I think I'd win because while he's healing, thats time he's not dealing damage to me. Even if Ironheart Blessing has a low cooldown time. Its still time he's getting hurt and I'm not.
Yes I realize there's a significant level difference between the two of us, but I think even if he was my level, and decided to get in my face like he thinks he can, I would eat him.
Oh yea, panda barbarians for the win.

Kiting is for noobs? Your faction mate is an idiot. While this game is somewhat different than EQ, in EQ my Necro, Druid, Shaman, Beastmaster and Wizard would kite 6-10 mobs at a time, all the time. Even after they nerfed kiting it was still possible to kite 4-6 easily (the nerf involved what your spells would damage or hit. more than 4 mobs and you'd start missing some of them).
In this game, I have a nice AOE that is ideal for kiting IF you have the space to round up the mobs in a nice tight group. Obviously magic dealing mobs are not ideal, but phys dealing mobs are. Get them in a tight group by running around them in a circle till they are clustered tightly and start AOE dotting them as you move in a safe direction away from them. I haven't tried this here yet, but now that I think about it, i'mma try it and see if that method works here like it did in EQ.

I kite'd Haggist Geezlot and that Barbarian boss at lower levels.

Are you saying I should kite as barb as well? I have an AoE too...I kind of just do 1 or 2 mobs at a time since too many will burn through my charm and I kind of get a little bit nervous with a lot of stuff around me. Your strategy certainly sounds effective though.
I was hoping for some input on my...I don't know what to call it, skills chain? Really any feedback at all is welcome. I have to say, I really have no idea what I"m doing and when I ask for help from other higher level barbs in game, I either get ignored or called a noob and pwnt. Not to mention finding higher level barbs is rare, all the high levels I see are Veno's and Archers dominantly. I get really really happy when I see high level barbs, and then get really really sad when they hurt me.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I'm sure you have massive hp just like every other Barbarian out there, so you shouldn't worry. He should pose no problem to you at all.
Just keep stunning him, specially when he tries to heal.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]b:laugh

Honestly, I'm not too sure about my HP. Well I mean duh I already have higher HP than everyone in my faction, I think even than my faction leader who is a level 66 Veno (lurrrrves you PH34RL3SS L34D3R! Your mantoy is pretty cool too XD). But I use Bloodbath which lowers my HP for accuracy. I use Inspiration of the Beast King too for the HP bonus, but after both of those I only have like 3.5k HP. I think its like 4.2 in Tiger form. Which reminds me, I have no idea what I'm doing in Tiger form. I hardly use it, I think I mainly use it for running faster when I don't feel like waiting to take my panther out. I wish I had more barbs to ask...But thanks for responding XD
Back to the original reason why I posted: I knew kiting was a pro strategy! Me for the win!
Off topic: I hope Foxtrott replies to this so I can respond to her post in the thread xarfox just closed...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
LOLZ kiting is for noobs?
More like not knowing WHEN to kite is for noobs.
<<<<<<<<Look at my lvl.
Last week i beat a lvl90+ mage(Not gonna say who or wich faction,i'm done embarrasing you^^)
Just cos the NOOB thought his almighty wizard skills would kill me before i reached him, and when i reached him and started OPENING UP on his ****.........HE STILL just stood there again thinking that "Jus a lil more! i'm nuking him, he'll die before i do"
HE THOUGHT WRONG. Now he must live with the embarrasement of losing to a rival guild member 20+ lvls below him.
Don't let this happen to you kids.....KITE when needed.....do ANYTHING it takes to win the match.
The dead body on the ground calling you NOOB doesn't count for SQUAT![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

While I appreciate you contributing to the thread, I wish you could have left your gloating out. Calling someone a noob is really unnecessary whether they be higher or lower than you. We all start at level 1, including yourself.
Grats on the whole killing someone that much higher than you though.
Seeing your a barb, can you give me any advice? Like what I should be shooting for, or what my attributes should be at right around now?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Little over joy Devlinne? lol. But kiting for archers, mages ect is pretty essential, as an archer I can stand ground n just spam my pledge and lightning skills against some BMs,Barbs ect..I've one shot a lvl 77 wizard twice with my wingspan while standing beside him rofl..But yes Kiting isnt for noobs and who ever says it is..gets owned by it..Personally I try to time my aim low and stunning arrow perfect then ill throw in frost arrow so i can give myself more distance then ill use my lightning moves and gaurenteed there dead by then.
Unno if that made sense its late and Im just kind of rambling on but..Kiting = FTWMaking new char..Which one? I have a BM..but I want more damage and stuff to do..
Experienced players contact with the cons n pros of there class and where to put points n what skills to up ASAP thanks..0 -

I've played a Barbarian before and started one recently again, haven't leveled it to your level yet, though.
I do know that Tiger Form is way better for tanking, because of the increase in HP, ShapeShifting Intensify and Flesh Ream.
However, you being on a PvP server makes the humanoid form more important.
Altough, if he tries to heal himself and if you have plenty of MP, you'd even want to try to shift to tiger form, use Alacrity of the Beast, change back and ****.
Honestly, you really shouldn't have to worry about a lvl 44 cleric.
He can only use Great Cyclone and Wield Thunder at lvl 1 on you.
Keep in mind Wield Thunder takes a long time to cast, and you'll have him stunned or interrupted by then.
The way I see it, he's going to spam Ironheart Blessing for the whole duel, perhaps even throw in a Plume Shell, which will have his MP drained in a matter of seconds.
I'll leave some space for higher level Barbarians to reply now.
I suggest you take a look in the Barbarian subforum, to find some tips there.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]b:laugh

I never thought of switching back and forth like that. Because Alacrity of the Beast cancels channeling right? So If I canceled channeling while he was trying to heal, I'd still do damage while he wasn't, and he wouldn't even be able to heal. Very interesting strategy. I read about that for tanking the higher level bosses, I really need to work on my Tiger form strategies. I'm not worried about a lvl 44 cleric, I'm worried about the clerics close to my level, I think a couple levels below, and a couple levels higher is even enough to me. On a sidenote I have to be doing something right, I beat a lvl 49 BM when I was lvl 48, he was fully buffed with Cleric AND Archer buffs, and I hadn't used any buffs at all. Thank you for your input Anjiru.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Hehe! Didn't mean to gloat, just that this particular person is a loudmouth and he deserves it.
Ok as for your next question........I'm not the best there is, i do what i can with what i have.
My advice is, if your're planning to pvp ALOT and if you got the money(RL or INGAME) you should max whatever humanoid skills u can max ESPECIALLY beastial onslaught, the lowering defence skill thingy(i forgot the name sorry) and the stunning move we barbs have(also forgot the name....-_-)
Max your fleshream too though, for those odd times when u absoulutely MUST tank for someone.....BLEAH and get your alacrity of the beast to level 7.
The above will make you level faster as u kill faster while grinding,,,but make no mistake...THIS IS A MONEY SINK way to level your barb.I spent ALOT. So if u can afford it this is the way to go.
Stats, just follow the barbarian guide so called typical barb build, enough str and dex for equips all the rest to vit bla blah.
At around 70+ once you get ya calamities....then start play with ya stats to suit ya play style.
Most important advice i can give you is INVOKE THE SPIRIT and have a combo ready that does not do ANY chi using moves, but instead all chi BUILDING moves.
Good luck to ya....RRRRRRAAAWWWRR[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Thanks for that XD I'm doing something right, I read that guide 3 or 4 times before I even rolled the barb. So thats what I've been sticking to. I wasn't really sure what skills I needed though, or when I should level them, like what to max first, so all my skills are pretty average right now. But I'm focusing on Mighty Swing and the buffs and passive skills. I just got strength of the titans, but didn't have the SP for beastial onslaught =/
Really, I'm not looking for the "best" I'm looking for whoever is willing to help me out. I'll definitely PM you in game to say thank you as well.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
