question about character speed under different conditions...

i was wondering about character's speeds in different conditions...
and which character has the potential to fly the fastest, walk the fastest, (swimming is obviously the barbarian with its +50% swim speed skill)

does the archer's wings of protection's speed increase also increase flight speed?

the BMs speed boost skill, does it affect flight speed?

the barb's tiger form, does it affect flight speed?

and the veno's ____ spirit or sprint (cant recall)... does it affect flight speed?

pretty much, which class can fly the fastest? (for the question lets just say all classes are lv50+ with the fastest aerogear, to take out the variable of different aerogears)

and do skills that boost speed affect fly speed or is it always just your character's base speed + the aerogear bonus, even if a skill increases the speed in the character screen (for example my archer's wings of protection shows 6.0m/s speed in my character screen and it lasts 60 seconds... would blood mist wings = a 7m/s flight speed when that speed bonus is going on or would bloodmist wings just equal 6.2m/s regardless of wings of protection's speed boost)

or do speed boost skills (like wings of protection) only affect boots on ground speed?
i'm pro all classes, and against none in particular..
but the age old QQ about venos is just that. OLD.
QQ'd about a nix lately? check out this thread n tell me who's "OP" lol..

All classes fly at the same speed (assuming they have the same speed aerocraft), because skills have no effect on flight speed. The only one that has an effect on flight speed, is the winged elf skill "Flight mastery". There are NO other skills that will make you fly faster.

    ummm
bm's hands down run fastest cuz of cloud sprint
    but flying...
    well idk..
but i do know that non of the speed skills work for aerogear
    BUT
BM's get a skill called the Will Of Bud-something that increases flight speed

No, every class is the same. Flight mastery only affects the starter wings, and if you max that out, you'll still be slower than the best cash shop aerogear.

My understanding on flight speed is that the gear increases the base movement speed such that if the class moves faster normally than other classes it will fly faster as well, and vice versa.

No, flight speed is completely separate from ground speed. As I said, there is nothing that will change it, unless you boost the aerocraft itself, or the elf starter wings, which is an exception in itself.

HA HA!! But you have forgotten about Distance Shrink!! Of course, that only boosts you forward so far then it's back to slow regular flight speed.

but isn't flight speed shown as +3/+5? if they are all the same, then what is being +'d? I mean, if I have gear on that increases my base speed to 6.6 and then I get on my flyer.. would that be base speed +3?

otherwise, there's no point in putting the + in the description at all.. because it's 0+3/0+5 at max speed (aka 3/5)..

We could all learn a lot from crayons, some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names (like chartreuse), and all are different colors....BUT they ALL exist very nicely in the same box!

EVERY character has a base speed of 5.0 as far as I know. The +3 and such is added to that, and that's your flying speed. Nothing else will influence it (again, except for Flight Mastery on starter wings).

In terms of racial passives I'd like untamed best. There is NOTHING making you swim faster. There's cash shop stuff for flying, there's apoth pots for running, but everyone except untamed swim at the same slow unchangeable snail speed. So yea, untamed have the best racial passive ._.

One thing I've noticed that DOES increase flight speed besides using wind widgets is those items you can craft through apothecary. The name escapes me atm,but the one that increases speed by 70% does make a noticable difference.

Granted,it's only for 15 seconds and the cool down makes it impossible to spam them.

thanks for all the input :)

but like someone started figuring earlier.. whats the +X.XX on the aerogear added to?

cause my cleric's speed in the character screen under normal conditions is 4.8 and my archer is 5.2.

wouldnt happen to be a high lvl cleric and archer out there with the same +X.XX aerogear (on the same server) that would care to test it out is there? (or any 2 characters with a noticeable difference in speed shown on the character screen under normal humanoid form conditions, and with the same +X.XX aerogear)

    Like I said. Base flying speed is 5.0, that's if it's +0.00. With +0.50, that'll become 5.50, etc.

Actually, EA have base speed of 5.2, EP 4.8, those are the two extremes I believe, but nothing besides EA has a speed of 5.2 base. Thus archers technically fly a little faster than anyone else. Not enough to be completely noticeable in a fight, but if you fly from 1k to dreamweaver, I am sure an archer would get there before anyone else. Unless base flying speed is different from base walking speed of course (which it probably is). Elves should fly faster than other classes imo, it's bull how one of our passives doesn't even work when we are a race that supposedly has a natural flying ability.

I think she was talking about flying speed there. Ground and air speed are indeed two seperate things.

Ok, I have a theory, or rather a question.
I have a maxed swiftshadow on my veno, and my bf's barb has one that's not touched. I fly a lot faster when he's in humanoid form, but only just a tiny bit faster when he's in tiger form.
    So?
Also, whether it's psychological or not, I've won races with summer sprint on against a cleric with maxed Watcher of the Skies. Explain please.

your flying speed is a static number when you purchase the cash shop aerogear.

My g/f has maxxed cash shop Wings, I have maxxed cash shop Manta.

She flies at the exact same speed as me. Literally NO DIFFERENCE over ranged flight (thousand streams to Dreamweaver port). We left at the same time and arrived at the same time.

I have not seen your races, so I do not know how far you flew nor how fast you accelerated and I do not know your flying gears' speed. I have no chance of explaining your experience accurately.

But maybe fox form influences flying speed? I do not know.

However, I do know of lots of things which do not influence my own flying speed, including gear, my own speed boosting skill and violet wind dew.

Also factor whether or not you are off the PW screen or not. I do believe if you are not on the PW screen, you fly slower. I myself believe this is true because I was on Swiftwind (2.5) and flew past someone on a lvl 30 sword. Went off screen to surf the web for awhile, and when I came back, he was past me. So after waiting awhile on screen, I passed him again.

Yes, if the PWI window isn't the active window, flying speed is halved.

I've noticed that when flying summer sprint does affect my speed. For example- I start flying and am autopathing from Archo to Dreamweaver. On my character page, it shows my speed as 5.1 m/sec (I believe), however, when I activate summer sprint my speed is shown to increase to 6.4 m/sec. Though, this is just the number shown on my character page, and I do notice a speed boost, though it may be a psychological effect from the flowers. (I fly on a basic skymanta shade, no upgrades).

Someone ran a test a while ago to test out summer sprint and tiger form. Turns out they didn't change flying speed whatsoever. The flower effect from summer sprint makes it look as if you're going faster, but you're not.
