Complaints about 'power leveling' from newest event

Why are people complaining that characters are gaining levels fast on the new servers?
Are the complainers the ones who thought they were going to be #1? What happens if you needed to take a vacation, power was out for a week, internet went down, etc... would you complain someone passed you in levels then too? If this event didnt come around these spenders would still be #1 because they would be buying the 50% exp boost scrolls.
What is the big deal having people high level? I for one didnt want to go to the new servers because there were NO high level players. It is easy on the established servers to get an FB done and kill bosses because there ARE higher level players than me.
Be glad some people are spending their money to get a high level so when your ready for that FB or Jewel or whatever there are people around that have the capability of helping.

I'm guessing for two reasons.
1. It's a brand new server and for many players struggling through it with everyone else was a big part of the fun, and this event has given them a sort of...."eh...what's the point?" feeling.
2. On the PvP server, people that spend 500 to 1500 dollars on this are going to skyrocket in level and leave everyone else in the dust. Now I have no problem with people who spend money in the cash shop, even that much if that's how they choose to play and enjoy the game. But for money to give THAT much of an advantage is a bit overboard. you don't agree?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I do agree that that amount of money is allowing them to power level in such a short amount of time. At least with the exp boost card it still takes time.
I also noticed that a lot of people had hercs the very first day the server opened. That was around $200 rigth there, but again a slower way to level, but they would probably always be on the top with such a powerful beast.
Another poster pointed out that these people are also missing out on a lot of free exp from quests and getting items (weps/armor) from quest rewards that are needed to efficiently play at the higher levels. So even though higher level, they may have the gear of a lvl 20?
Lastly, I think there would be fewer complaints (maybe?) if the oracle scroll had a 1 hour timer. Where you wouldnt get exp until the timer expired. That would really slow down the speed of leveling and also make the bosses less camped! This would be similar to having a timer on justice quests and crazy stone.0 -

Thing is, if you want a NASCAR-type PvP game (where everyone has the exact same stats and abilities and the only difference is player skill), then you should be playing a FPS, not a RPG.
Personally I enjoy leveling slowly. It gives me time to explore different areas and try fighting different mobs before I level past them and they turn green. I sell all the easy-exp type items I get (scarlet fruit, quest books), and have even deliberately killed myself several times to avoid leveling. A RPG is about the journey, not the destination.0 -
This type of complaint is much higher on F2P type games. Those with lots and lots of time available and little money want to keep there advantage over those who have less time because they work and have money.
The more important question is why being the top of these lists matter to people. It generally comes down to people who have little else in their life than a video game. This is very sad.
I have always called these list the "Biggest real life losers list" since all they represent is hours played and now I guess it includes those who like to buy their way onto the list.0 -

They can level as fast without the event.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Got my attention. How? and no...exp scrolls won't cut it.0 -
1 - buy a ton of Gold, sell them in AH to convert them to a ton of millions coins.
2 - set a few cat shop in strategic spots to buy DQ items at a price people will sell you too. Annnouncing it on WC helps.
3 - when you have enough DQ items, start the quest. Use TP stones to travel faster to NPC. Pay for the part of the DQ that gives you the choice between killing mobs and pay the npc.
5 - sell the DQ rewards to gather more coins to buy more DQ items.
4 - repeat as needed. At this speed you can do a DQ in a matter of minutes. And DQ gives good XP. For exemple, if someone had enough money to do it, he could make level 92 to 93 in one day...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Thanks Brit for the sig b:laugh0 -
I dont think that DQ method will work on the new servers....
No one has a lot of coin to buy the gold in AH just yet, at least they didnt when I stopped by the server.
Who will sell you the higher lvl dq mats on the new server if your one of a few in the 60-90 range? Would you just do the dq20 and 31 instead?
Doing dq71 it would take me 40x to make my next level. At 5 min per dq that would be over 3 hours and cost over 10 mil coins if you paid npc price for mats and the fee for skipping the mob killing. That is just for 1 lvl 79-80.0 -
oracle III is 18k exp every min, DQ cant compete with that.Pendulum's definition of fair fight:

So you're saying that in addition to spending lots of money on gold, to spend lots of money on extra computers, and to have extra identities to create spurious accounts.
I guess being wealthy in real life just isn't enough these days....0 -

1. If you want to struggle then play with no armor and no pots and have fun regardless of what other players do. Why do you need to bbe better than other ppl to have fun? Play for yourself not for everyone else.
2. If you play a pvp server you should realise you are in a compedative arena, you dont see a guy with one leg in the real olympics do you? If you dont give 150% and pay a bunch of coins the pvp server is not for you.
Yes these servers are new, many of the players had lvl 70+ chars on the old severs. This is a chance to get back where they left off in a short time, its GREAT! Why is there any complaints about this jeeez!0 -

Because it was a fair chance for all of us, cash shoppers still had an advantage like charms, scrolls, overpowered pets, etc. but they were never able to buy experiencePendulum's definition of fair fight:

PWI is not going to listen to you because the cash shoppers you deride are sending them bucketloads of money which will be distributed as a fat bonus to their paychecks in these economically troubled times. This game was never about being fair, it's about making money. Fairness is only a factor in how much unfairness the other users will tolerate before they start quitting the game.
If you want to play an RPG where cash shoppers do not have an advantage, then you need to play an RPG with a fixed monthly fee. The company running the game needs to be paid somehow, whether it's a monthly fee or a cash shop. If you want to be cheap and play without paying money, then the price you pay is that cash shoppers get an advantage over you. If you expect to play for free at no disadvantage, you are the one with the problem (an unreasonable sense of entitlement), not the game.0 -

There was fairness in pvp, only advantage they had was a few lvls and charms, that could be dealt with they still had to quest, aoe grind, spend hours and hours and hours a day to lvl.
Now it's 1 hr in oracle spot for a lvl, that's different.Pendulum's definition of fair fight:

LOL fair? Where are you from, there is no such thing as "fair" in life. Much less in games.
And no exp scrolls and charms are not for cash shoppers only, they are stupidly easy to buy with normal coins in game. Not only that but those items typically cost 4 gold and you non-cashshop players only want to pay 350k for them. Talk about wanting ur bread buttered on both sides.0 -

Yes fair, your second paragraph confirms it
The only advantage CS users had was getting it w/o having to farm stuff to sell to make money for it.
Noone could directly buy exp before this event.Pendulum's definition of fair fight:

CS users can buy stuff without worrying about in game costs, that's the only unfair thing.
Free users gotta make the money for it.

ok it may not be direct, but you get a decent chance of turning 30 silver into 30k exp+.Pendulum's definition of fair fight:

And they just click them and, BAM, 13k-18k XP instantly?
Or do they have to go do something else first?
I would agree with you if the only thing they had to do was click the book, and, BAM, instant 13k-18k XP, but it isn't.
Depending on which one (lol scorpion king) the amount of time needed could be huge because, amazingly enough, there are a lot of people trying to do that exact same quest.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

How "easy" or how "hard" is irrelevant because:
Everyone is trying to do those RIGHT NOW.
Not everyone can get credit for the kill in a squad.
Means everyone has to solo it, basically.
Everyone having to solo it means that it takes longer because they have to do it one by one by one unless someone can simply one shot them all day long.
If this bothers you so much, then go camp those spawn points, and KS everyone, or organize a group of players to go camp and KS spawn points for the next two weeks.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
