I knew someone would say that, but thats not my choice, if it was i would just place 1 point each lvl lol
or if only we have Vit shards instead of HP, Vit=hp&DEF(I would definately go with this) but HP=well just hp right...
    So, other than HP....

It actually depends what it is your are placing them into. For myself I would place HP most likely in armour which consists of everything but your weapon.

In my weapon I always add +MAG ATT to it. Now I am low level but I was able to place a +12 and +9 MAG ATT stones into my FB19 blue glowing staff. I know I could have spent more to get some higher stones but I did not have the cash and thought it was a nice bonus to my weaponry for my level.
tatuaje: grinding mobs and zhenning ???
frankieraye:All right, I admit it, it's a bit retro. lol.

The thing is, HP shards add survivability versus all types of attacks, while other shards do not. Also light armor build doesnt have many spare points to throw into vit anyways, so that's why you compensate with hp shards. Also vit adds very very very little def, its negligable to even factor.

I vote HP shard as well, dont gimp yourself.

Great if you can put some points into VIT, but where those points come from? downgrade your weapon to move points from MAG to VIT?

HP adds to survivability against spike damage. They do not improve ability to tank, whereas p.def and m.def shards do. For a caster veno I'd agree with hp. Maybe mana if you have soul transformation and are finding that you run out mana more quickly than nature's grace, soul transformation, and metabolic boost can restore it. (Another option if that's happening is to lower your hp - adding hp will actually make things worse.)

For a fox veno it gets more complicated. If you're tanking frequently as a fox veno, you may be better off with def shards that protect against the type of mobs you frequently tank. e.g. If you're tanking a mob and its hits/spells damage you slightly faster than leech can replenish your hp, def shards will help whereas hp shards will not. The better alternative though is probably to arrange it so your pet tanks.

I didnt say they help you to tank(assuming you mean damage taken-wise, because more hp does technically let you tank[in the sense of able to take more hits] longer). Yada yada it will cost more you need to heal via potion/charm cost, we've been down this road/discussion before Solandri. I said adds more survivability from all types of incoming damage, as opposed to one type of damage with other shards, which is true.

Even as a fox veno you shouldnt be tanking over your pet, which you mentioned.

Right. I wasn't contradicting your answer, just expanding on it. The hercules is the ultimate demonstration of what +p.def and +m.def can allow you to do. It reduces DPS taken, which allows you to tank higher-level and tougher mobs using only the same amount of healing.

The +hp will allow you to tank longer for maybe one extra hit, if that for the entire duration of a fight against a boss. I consider that negligible. But if your job is not to tank, then the +hp becomes good insurance in case you draw aggro or get jumped on by a wandering mob.

My way of thinking might not help everyone, but, I think:

+HP helps keep you from being "one shot" when [?] monsters critical hit you. I think you should give HP your highest priority until you have enough (enough to keep from being one shot or killed between incoming bursts of healing).

+phys/mag defense helps you in "normal fights". They multiply your health pool and they multiply healing's effectiveness. Eventually, when you have "enough" HP, defenses can take priority.

+evasion works sort of like +phys defense (multiplying your health pool and multiplying healing's effectiveness) and evasion helps you manage your armor repair bills. But evasion is "iffy" -- your benefits over time will be big but evasion can be unreliable for short bursts of time.
