One Star to Two Star

In order to get my level 4 Craftsman I need to create three, 2 star items. Nowhere in the Craftsman manufacturing panel does it show the 2 star items, they're all 1 star.
I tried making one anyway (Dragon Scale Necklace) and sure enough it's a 1 star.
Can someone tell me how to manufacture 2 star items, e.g. Dragon Scale Necklace, Wave Watcher Pendant and Ring of Magical Skies.

It took ages to gather the materials so I'm loathed to waste them on 1 star items.

I assume there's no way to upgrade a 1 star to a 2 star.

Thanks,

Unfortunately its all luck. On top of that, there is no bonus for current crafting level. A lvl 2 craftsman has just as much of a chance on making a 2 or 3 star item as a lvl 6 or 7 craftsman does. If you search the pwi database you can get an idea of what the odds of getting your 2 start items are per time you craft.

Your chance to get a 2-star item is about 30%, jackstryder. At least this is what I've heard. When I did the craftsman level 4 quest, luck was against me... I manufactured about ten of the needed ornaments, but I only got ONE two-star item. Pretty much bad luck. I ended up buying the items from another player, for quite a sum.

Yup, about a 30% chance to make a two star. I swear though that the items for the lvl 4 stuff are less likely to come up. I have been making the stuff for My blacksmithing now for almost 7 full levels and still need the bow. Of course you can buy one, but chances are your gonna pay a huge premium for them due to the demand for them. I was looking at the onimental bows(required for BS) in the auction house and they were going for 400k each.b:sad If you have the patience and ability to farm your required mats, just keep trying, sooner or later you will get what you need

You are correct that there is no way to upgrade a 1* to a 2*.

Manufacturing has a %chance to make 1,2, or 3* items (with most being 1*).

If you are patient, you can get some great deals from other players. I got my craftsman for about 200k (100k for wave watcher, 75k for necklace, and 25k for ring)

If you talk with Duke Blacke, he will sometimes give you advice about crafting (if you go now and visit ___ you might be pleased, or something like this).

I do not know how this all works (do crafter NPCs build "goodness" over time which gets drained by people crafting? do they have some kind of set schedule? do they get randomly assigned "good times"?) but I like wasting time and money talking with Duke.

But I also like waiting for several seconds between consultations. When I talk with him too much he starts double charging me.

Just one final comment. I made my items and amongst them was a 3 star Heretic Banishing Pataka. However, when I went to the Blacksmith he wouldn't accept it so I had to go back and keep manufacturing until I had a two star.
When they say 2 star they really mean it.

Yup, the same happened to me. My 3* pataka was worse than what i was currently useing, but I wielded it out of *spite*.
