So I am new to the game and I made a wizard. I am having fun with it but im getting tired of constantly dieing...

I generally open with either divine pyro or stone rain then followed by gush then reg pyro... and then normally gush again if the mobs not dead...

Am i doing something wrong or do most wizards at low lvl tend to die? I am lvl 22. Is there something I can do better or different to eliminate the amount of deaths?

Make sure you have the right clothes on... I learned to keep optional equip in my inventory so that if I'm against Metal, I can have the best defense and if I'm against Fire I can switch stuff. Also make sure that you're not throwing Fire at a Fire elemented beast... it still works just not as well.

I dont trade out i never thought of that but most the mobs i fight come and attack me melee wise.. even mobs which are fire based still seem and attack me melee.. So just curious, if a mob is fire based when it hits me melee is it hitting me with fire dmg? Also is it effective to just attack run atack run.. etc?

No, melee is melee, the element of mobs doesn't influence their dmg unless they attack with magic. It'll take you some time till you meet strong magic mobs.

Sounds like you'd benefit from just mastering a technique called kiting. Don't just stand there and let them beat on you.

Your opening is strong, divine pyro or stone rain, followed by a gush, pyro is fine; however, as they get close move back, gush them again, and repeat as needed until they're dead. This way you minimize the amount of damage you take in and can in a way maximize your playing potential.

If your like me later you'll be very, very happy gush has a quick cast and cooldown time.

Edit: I don't change items either. I've the same set that I wear throughout. I do try and make sure my elemental resistance is balanced however on my armor.

Others might disagree but I'd also suggest using physical ornaments in your necklace and belt slot. They don't add a huge amount of elemental res but considering how low are physical defense is, it's a bigger help as far as I'm concerned.

    Very sage advice from Keliahar.

Go for robes with a balanced build. I try to buy or make ones with all 5 elemental resistances. And if you can try to find robes with phys res modifiers. If it has sockets add phys res stones. If you can get your phys res up to around 800-1000 you're doing pretty good. Because then you can cast Stone Barrier and it will boost it significantly depending on how high you have it lvld. I have stone barrier at lvl 10 right now and it gives a 100% increase in phys res and earth res. Along with some buffs from a cleric I'm looking at almost 3000 phys res and almost 6500 earth res.

Thanks for the advice.. its not the melee mobs that really get me any more its the ranged.. I cant kite some of them because even by slowing them down they attack from afar so i dont see the point.. am I suppose to just hard core burn these mobs down?
