is take aim really not worth lvling
So i've read all the archer skill guide and they pretty much say dont' lvl it...but is it really that bad...i read about all these skills costing alot of mp at max lvl so will a skill such as deadly shot at max lvl be better than the take aim at max lvl in terms of mp consumption? does the damage merit the usage of deadlyshot over take aim? also this is in the CONTEXT of grinding and not PVP. I want a good set of skills that i an grind and not spam mp pot...but i dont want to mp save if it causes lesss damage to the point that the monster will reach me before i kill it.

Coming from a non-archer, for regular grinding I really don't see why it would be a waste to level it. You have time to channel it, it does a good deal of damage, seems like a good opener to me.
Copied from Ecatomb.net:
Archer: lvl 45 Spirit: 36 500 Coin: 48 000
icone skill
Take Aim Level 10
Range: Long Ranged
Mana: 100
Channel: Charge
Cast: 0.6 seconds
Cooldown: 3.0 seconds
Weapon: Ranged Weapons
Requisite Cultivation: Spiritual Initiate
Charge for up to 3.2 seconds to attack enemy, inflicting base physical damage plus up to 300% of weapon damage.
Requires 1 arrow, bolt or shot.
Sage version always gives 500% of weapon damage.
Demon version reduces the charge time required by 0.5 seconds.
100 mp doesn't sound that bad to me. Deadly shot is 318 mp at level 10. Probably does more damage but why not Take Aim -> Deadly shot?0 -
for grinding pve the trick is to keep it at lvl 1, mostly **** the channel time and use it to build chi to spam winged shell(free mp) and sometimes sparks(free hp and kills) of course sometimes youll toss in some knockback arrows and use an aim low or spark on increased life/def
this has worked for me at least0 -
It's the poor archers deadly shot IMO. I've one shotted people with this skill. It has great damage, especially when you critical. Also while, it says the charge up time is 3.2 at max lvl, there is a little glitch that allows you to fire it fast and still recieve the bonus damage. All you have to do wait for the charge bar to show up then click the skill again.0
-
That is not a glitch. Take aim has a charge-based channeling. To get the full effect it has to charge fully but you can release it early by firing again.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

realy you think i should just keep it at lvl 1??0

This skill should not be lvl 10 unless you are the lvl to get it to lvl 11 aka 89+ and have the book.
It's weaker than deadly shot and should never be fully charged in any situation. Quickfire 10mp cost to get 10 chi is really good though.0 -

Don't listen to the naysayers, it is indeed worth to level.
It does good damage on level 10, and is great for pve as an opening shot, due to its low mana usage.
and for 89 + it's worth it both for heaven and hell.0 -

While I fundamentally agree with you there, I wouldn't tell him to lvl TA to lvl 10 without indicating "when". It's stupid to lvl TA when your weapon sucks... 3x(a number that sucks) is still a number that sucks. I'd definitely disagree to leveling TA before a TT60 weapon (or could be a decent weapon... just not the **** you pick up on the "streets")0 -
while it may do great damage at lvl 10, for pve i can grind and gain pots over time instead of using pots by using take aim lvl 1, max wing shell, and knockback lvl 1 (every other mob or w/e)
i think its a great system and has gained me plenty of coin to afford nice things while never charging gold0 -
Max level its ur strongest skill (YES stronger than deadly shot which everyone seems to love soo muchb:sweat)
For pve u shouldnt be using any skill besides frost arrow and knockback, maybe an occasional stun as well rest is all normal shots.Official Guild History

I personally would not level Take Aim until at least 89.
Why?
PvE, you shouldn't use deadly shot or maxed Take Aim. Frost arrow, knockback, aim low, and stunning are the way to go. Low level Take Aim will also let you charge chi; also you can use it after a shot to quickly shoot again, which is very useful to finish a mob that's channeling a skill that would hit you otherwise.
Damage-wise for PvP, Deadly Shot is better (remember I'm talking about pre-89). At Deadly Shot level 3 (which you can get at 57, as max take aim is **** before your TT60), you deal +65% + 2765.5, compared to 300% Take Aim. In order for Take Aim to do more damage, that extra +235% damage has to exceed 2765.5, which means that it has to roll 1176.8 (2765.5 / 2.35) on your weapon damage, which is the near the max damage of the TT 60 weapon. As you level up Deadly Shot, it will outdamage Take Aim until you get to level 89 where Take Aim goes up to 400/500% (and from the higher weapon damage). The downside, of course, is that Deadly Shot is a LOT more expensive.0 -

Agree, but sometimes those "weak" or "sacrifical assault" mobs are begging to be 1 shot by a take aim
In a PvP standpoint, I think the spirit would be more useful if spent on stunning arrow or another skill (like a lightning skill, a winged skill or maybe the evasion buff). As you are aware... DS **** your spirit at lvls 50-70 and I see no harm in taking TA as a DS substitute that costs somewhere around 100mana less per shot (not that mana matters in TW anyways) and a lot less spirit which could be used for other things.
Yes DS gets better because you can level it as you get higher levels, but consider that every new bow you get will also improve TA at no extra cost.
edit: as a side note, the spirit to get from DS lvl 3 to 4 can pretty much almost get you from lvl 1 to 10 in TA (short 15k or so).0 -
Deadly shot also has a weapon dmg modifier, so yes, it still gets a bonus from having a higher lvl weapon. Unless you are rolling around with +8 lvl 80 HH bow, you won't do enough dmg to do more with TA instead of lvled up DS. In PvE, frost arrow is way better as a starter. I practically preach that fact.
Take aim is really way more useful not lvled up because you can spam it in pve isntead of normal atks, get more chi and it will still only cost you 10 mp. It's amazing when not lvled up. At 89+ you can get the book and lvl it up.0 -

but that's assuming they have the spirit (for DS) which I quite frankly at my level don't. I have yet to level my winged skills (both on 3 atm) and my thunderous blast along with the final few levels in stun and wings of protection...0 -
I will give you that, the spirit and money needed to lvl ds is way more comparatively. But again, you lose the ability to shoot faster and get chi for 10 mp.0
