What is the difference between servers?

Well I played PWI for a few days and saw a lot of talk about servers so could anyone help this noob???b:surrender

P.S. Why is one of the servers (Etherblade) offline?

    Sanctuary is PVE
    Heaven's Tear is PVE
    Lost City is PVP

    Etherblade is coming out with 2 new servers

    Harshlands is PVP
    Dreamweaver is PVE

    Also, Heavens and Lost are the oldest in their game form (PvE or PvP). Sanctuary came after. These three have their events based off west coast time (GMT-8)

    Harsh and Dream *just* opened so have a low level population and a new-ish economy developing. They also have their events set to east time (GMT -5).

    just in case: PvE = you have the option of never being killed by another player. There is a little button to push if you do (want to try and kill players, and they can kill you)

    PVP = once you ding level 30, every other player level 30+ has the option to attack you whenever, however, whyever they want the second you step outside a city.

    Eep I dont think Id ever choose that server. Id never leave the city XD. But I was kinda wondering the diff between the servers myslef :)
