Do not do the quest to collect Inquisitive Poisontail tails! It says you only need to collect three tails, yet i've killed 56 inquisitive poisontails and only have 2 tails! That's less than a 4% drop rate! Save yourself the drama, and do not do this quest!

The drop rate is tabled as 10% so it seems you have been slightly unlucky there.

Actually, You will have to do the quest unless you want to grind.

Every exp from the quests you will get is highly adviced before lvl 20-21, it gives you a headsup entering Archosaur west mobs.

regarding quests that are not worth it, im actually going to bring to light the perfect wear quest at lvl 45. this is just my rant and experience, including why it's so bad in every way.

the mobs are lvl 50+...while you're lvl 45. this doesn't just apply to the tauroc commanders, everything around them aggros and beats the **** out of you. the pyros quickly stacks up to 100+ a pop, the tauroc marksman tend to group up and like to aggro + focus fire if you hit a commander even remotely close to their location, and the commanders themselves are monstrous beasts. every increased life commander taken down felt like a miniboss, w/out the rewards. Most other item collecting quests also involve a lot of killing, but at least you're getting efficient exp and fast loot from the monsters. lvl 51 tanks are dangerous and the exp they give isn't more efficient than lower lvl mobs concerning the time spent on killing them and on positioning to avoid aggro; not to mention should you die, the dent on your exp bar will probably offset the extra exp these beasts give.

then of course, the quest items does not get shared among squad mates. that means the nightmare continues for a long, long time. if you're doing this alone and is not a veno, you'll probably quickly find yourself chugging crates of pots not to mention things getting extremely hairy when mobs (did i mention lvl 50's and above?) spawn behind you mid combat. for us, we did it in a squad but always had 1 guy deal the most dmg and letting him last hit while the rest of us stunned, healed, and held back other mobs. this took forever, but it saved pots and lives. (considering the quest rewards, completely unnecessary to not make it squad shared)

once you're done dealing with the cows, the quest wants you to turn in 10 compound threads and 10 leather. these are lvl 3-4 components for makeing stuff, and they're not common drops at that point of the game either. buying that stuff is like burning at least 80k as most cat shops sell those for 4k each. for me, i had some from previous monster kills and was planning on saving them for my manufacturing skill, well i said goodbye to that...

finally, what do i get? 15k in exp (same as the previous quest where you're asked to kill monsters that are actually your lvl), 13k gold (which pales compared to any amount you spent in buying pots and mats), 5k spirit points, and 5 reps. lets put it this way: the money you get is null compared to the expenses and the exp and rep you get could've been ground out in solo missions probably in less time.
i did 3 cycles of one man army in less time than this.

what i hope for is some sort of continuation. some other quest they'll give because you took the time (and pots) to complete this quest. if not, then this has got to be the worst quest yet to be encountered

    I agree with you, mbrunestud:

I have not yet completed my perfect wear quest, and I do not plan on completing this quest any time soon. (To complete this quest, I would need to turn in some of my stocks of compound threads and of leathers -- I will not be turning them in until I am done using my level 4 production skills.)

If I am losing out on something great, because of my choice here, too bad for me.

I remember that quest. I was in a squad with two archers and a cleric and we killed around 100 of those things and got only two tails. It took over two hours to get the third. Most of us gave up.

The Perfect Wear quest is good to do at level 5x. You'll get more quests to kill Tauroc Commanders, Sharpshooters and Pyrogoths. If you can synch the quest together, they become very much worth the time. You'll also be able to do a solo quest with them for a celestial stone and 2 rep.

tauroc commander quest can be done easy if you find cleric, its pretty fast then too=you dd, you get drops, you don't have to afraid to die so can tank even more monsters at same time if they agro on you :)
cleric can find another cleric or anyone who can tank. if tank is not a barbar then don't use cyclon, it keeps steal agro o.o
