Maybe I am just not seeing it...

So after reading about the reason for the servers down, the money bug, and how there is no rollback, I decided to take a look into the Lost City gold exchange auctioneer.
Before the money glitch gold was sold for approx 107500 coins and upon looking in there today there are still plenty of coins still being sold for that price.
I know how ig economies work - I have played MMOs for 10 years now with Asheron's Call, EVE, WoW, and a bunch of other small ones. I have seen the money glitches from AC (plat bug anyone?), the xp bug from AC (which with no rollback from THAT essentially killed AC for anyone who missed it) and many others. For AC, the motto for darktide was always exploit early, exploit often.
But I do not see any economic consequences in the market through my brief look around. There may be players with massive amounts of coin in them but they have yet to affect the economy with it.
All I can say is if this stays consistent that I am impressed that the GMs have been able to curb any abnormal economic changes without a rollback - something that would be harder to do in a F2P game than a P2P with zen in the equation (assuming they never designed a system to incorporate it in).
I can still buy gold for the price i could before so I am happy.
One more thing, if the economy does truly inflate you should realize that you can make the new inflated amounts of coin by trading. NPC selling would die but everything would increase in value in auctions and those catstands (forget that they are). In WoW the most rudimentary materials can be sold for 5 gold in the auctionhouse. This game's economy will inflate over time as well.

Yea and when all those people with all that gold easily refine to +7 or even higher.. see how happy you are then..lmao they dont deserve money they glitched..0 -
It's not that they deserve money - I am not talking idealisms here.
I am just saying the damage to the game appears to be minimal. Sure there might be a few people who are a little more powerful than they should be but OVERALL the gameplay experience for me is unchanged.
They will likely continue to ban the ones who show excessive profit from the bug (or at least remove their coins) but as far as I am concerned they won't get that much more of an advantage than everyone is blowing it out to be.0 -
minimal? when you happen to play TW and face a similar opponent in lvl but your dmg is half is his, go ask why he's pro and you're noob.
ok i know the answer already: he'll say he just spent hundreds of dollars to make all his items +7 or higher[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Before the update, gold was selling for 105k a piece on Sanctuary. I just checked, as of right now, the lowest price for gold is at 150k a piece and the highest is at 180k a piece? You still don't see it?0

This is pretty strong evidence that the economy of Sanctuary has taken a really big shot to the nads. Hopefully things will recover quickly.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Sanctuary had nothing to do with what the OP was talking about, so bringing it up here was pointless. That's what Maiya meant with her post.0 -
Apperently(sp?) the concept that Lost City might NOT be the only server in the game that might have been effected by this has slipped your grasp? OP didn't say "this is a Lost City only topic" he just stated the conditions of LC server. I'm happy LC hasn't been as hurt by this as Sanctuary has been and continues to be. My Characters there won't be as adversely effected by all this BS as the ones I have on Sanctuary are being effected.

You enjoy "ganking" someone who has no chance to fight you back because they're overwhelmed by numbers? Sounds familiar to me, sounds like a coward talking... Get them alone and their pussies w/o the spine to face you... but they are big bad **** ****'s when they are surrounded by their buddies.

haha people like you are the funniest to deal with. You are the kind who can't deal with unfair fights saying 'I'm not ready wahh!!' and **** like that.
Lost City is an open pvp server once you hit 30+. It is the kind of ruthless server I like and why I am enjoying this F2P game (only F2P game that has some balls imo).
If you love duels so much then the non-pvp server is there for ya. But if you play on LC don't cry when you get smoked by a group.
Or please do cry - it really does make my day.
Yes I am an *******, and I love it.0 -
I can deal with unfair fights. I don't cry or whine about it. Part of the game, cowards will always run in packs. It still doesn't change my opinion that people who can't fight any other way are nothing more than cowards.
You showed yourself for what you are. Not me. I just identified the disease and named it for what it is... Cowardice.

The reason why the OP couldn't see the economy change is cause his look at the gold prices was Lost City. And from what he saw, wasn't a huge change.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

It's gonna take a few weeks for the full consequences to become clear. Right now, anyone who was smart managed to squirrel away a ton of cash on a second account. They aren't going to touch it until the frenzy dies down, what with the ban hammer being swung. Once the heat is off, they'll start tapping those funds driving up prices. How much this amounts to remains to be seen.0

I'm pretty sure that answering people's questions isn't deemed "pointless", at least not yet. But hey, this is the internet after all, and I can imagine it happening one day.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
