Magic attack range question

I tried searching the forums for an answer to this, but I couldn't find one (I'm kind of inept at things like that). What points (mag, dex, str, vit) affect the magical attack strength? My friend and I are both lvl 54 venos with the exact same weapon, and she has a stronger magic attack than I do, despite me having more in both magic and strength. I would think that magic and strength would be the key factors, but apparently I'm wrong in that reasoning. I know magic attack shards in the weapons would change it, but neither of us have one. Sooo... I'm just curious about what actually affects it so I can increase my magic attack in the future. I want to be stronger, dagnabbit! b:chuckle

Well if you hover over the Magic stat in the window it clearly says that it increases magic attack. Weapon damage however is the largest factor when it comes to how hard you hit.Main characters
Celestial Sage Venomancer Zoe - 100
Sage Barbarian Malego - 910 -
How much stronger is her attack? Is it a significant number or just slightly higher?
Maybe she has some armor or accessories that add to her mag attack...0 -
reasons she got more magic attack that you:
1)if you havent levelled your venomancer skills, then do level up the spells that you frequently use as much as possible(and dont level up fox form skills if your a upright veno and vice versa). if you havent leveled them up them she will do more damage in case she has leveled hers up.
2)its her pet which is doing the bulk of the attack. and she might have a attack type pet whereas you got a tanking type pet.
if you both got the same weapons(same number of hollow/filled star(s) at the weapon description and same addons) and if you got more points in mag than her(including any +mag any of her equips have to offer) then other than those 2 reasons i dont see any other way she would outdamage you.
and mag points will be your only source of damage, if your a upright veno. but are you a veno who attacks in fox form?0 -
Most likely her skill rank(s) are higher than yours, based on your info. If you an upright mage-style veno, max out Ironwood and Venomous Scarab asap. Those are our "bread-n-butter" nuke skills. Also keep Wood Mastery maxed, that may be a factor in your case as well. Blazing and Frost Scarab are both garbage, though Blazing may be useful on bosses later on, so don't bother with more than rank 1 for now. Lucky Scarab is useful and deals high damage, but it's mana cost is prohibitively high for everyday grinding/questing.
Magic increases magic attack and defense, Strength increases physical attack and defense. Unless you are a pure melee fox form veno, only put enough strength and dexterity for weapon and armor requirements. Everything else goes into magic and optionally vitality.0
