Perfect World International usually takes less than 128 kilobits per second. Dial-up, unfortunately, provides another issues not related to the width of a connection -- the compression techniques and software used by most dial-up connections can significantly increase latency. A good dial-up connection might only be a 200 ms slower latency-wise, which is borderline, but a bad one can add nearly a second.

    Your mileage will vary.

satellite is very very good on the down stream but only dial up on the up stream.
generally it is not the ideal solution for online games such as this due to the upload speeds and the lag issue. which is the result of pure communication times over the distance between terrestrial and extraterrestrial locations.
basically you might find that you are standing still to every one else while every one appears to me blasing fast to you.
if it is what you got try it if it an option you are considering try a different one.

personally every gamer i have met has cried rivers over his sat connection. and had to make the same adjustments to his/ her settings as a dial up user.
one day the world will shout to me save us....
    and i will whisper no.

The iPod will probably work, albeit a bit slow on the loading screens. The 20k connection is more iffy. That usually indicates a very noisy local loop, or other poor conditions that can indicate higher latency or packet loss, and 20kilobits per second isn't much data space when you think about packet headers.

The issue with Satellite for this game isn't bandwidth itself, but that satellite internet must go to 44,000 miles twice in order to reach the geostatic orbit and get back down. In order to not violate causality and the speed of light (not just a good idea : it's the law!), that usually takes more than 500 ms. For getting web pages that's not especially bad, but live gaming and other time-sensitive communication usually suffers a lot. It's even worse in a cloudy day, since that can cause packet loss. Depending on provider, local atmospheric communications, and demand, this can range from a little slower than ideal to completely unplayable.
