Walking with wings visible

Okay this is a silly and rather useless feature and yet it boggles me that I can't do it. I DO see some winged elves, once in a while, do a running start before flying. Or people standing on the ground with wings out before taking flight. I can't seem to be able to do that, if I pop wings out I automatically fly and flying as close to the ground as possible doesn't seem to change this.

Is it me or? :P

    Just little glitch that is all.
    You can actually land half way in the ground when landing with fly and is looks funny.
    As for running take off you can do it but its nothing special just Push X to cartwheel and if you time it right jump and mount wings and take off. Nothing special. Doesnt rlly gain you any speed advantage just looks funny.
