How to play a lowbie PK mage?

I'm a little hesitant to add this, but in light of all the PK guides, I figure one more can't hurt. This one is for 50 and below ONLY.
Step 1: Create your mage! Customize him how you will, but make sure he/she looks GREAT lying on the ground. You'll see a lot of that and it's imperative they look their best.
Step 2: Statting: Pick LA or Pure mage. It doesn't matter, you'll still get **** by everyone. Until later, I recommend pure. That way, at least you can hurt something a little bit. Go out with a thump, not a whimper.
Step 3: Level your mage to 30. Good luck.
Step 4: Decide whether or not to PK. If the answer is no, then stop reading. If yes, get used to having no cash, no items, and being a nice soft target. It's easier than you think.
Step 5: Pick your target. Once you kill one, you're pretty much **** fodder for anyone who sees you. So choose wisely!
For my first kill, I went into stalker mode. I followed an unsuspecting blademaster around, waited on him to take half damage, and then one shotted him. Looking back, I would have won face to face most likely, but I digress.
Protip: Pick a class weak to magic and hit them from a distance. If they reach you, you die. Don't let that happen.
6: Congrats! Now all that's left to do is embrace the sweet death!
Final tips: Being a mage is all about mindgames. If you're being griefed by those MUCH higher than you, it helps to come across as slightly more insane than they are. This way, they realize you're not worth the annoyance.
Case in point: I was levelling away outside the Silver Pool, when a level 80 barb runs up and one shots me. Big surprise. Then, I was subjected to the subsequent and entirely expected noob taunts. But this is where the story differs from the norm. Instead of crying carebear, and bitching about it, I just went to town. Then, I came back, said something like "HP is for pussies!" and attacked him. This time however, when he turned to attack me, someone else one shotted him. At this point, I did the logical thing: I teabagged him. As he reincarnated, I read "WHAR"S THAT MAGE!>:(" So I attacked him again, and died again. Oh well. I reincarnated again, stripped all my armor off, and attacked again. Same result. Eventually my naked berserking freaked him out a little and he started running from me. I count this as a victory.
The lesson? When being griefed by a high level player, taunt them and let them know you have no reason to be afraid... Eventually, they'll quit... Mindgames.
Last thought:
It's your own masochistic fault for rolling a mage, so suck it up, kill people, and have fun. When you die, it's your fault. Remember that.

I think I just found the love of my life.0

lol this is so true, I was pking and I was then pked by a lvl 60+ and my pants dropped O.o and they guy happened to be flying around with his wife, so i proceeded follow him around yelling, how he got my pants off on the first date, and all, I pked along the way, but it was all good fun. That's how see it, as long as you can turn a bag situation into a fun one, then your golden. b:victory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Dalamaar: Mizorie you have no soul.0 -
how do you stalk someone?0
-
-
You follow them...
I stay back a few meters where I'm not conspicuous, and if they turn around, I meditate.
Sometimes, I'll watch from the air.
I've added a new strategy as well. I'm going to camp bosses like Krixix from the air, and when a party comes, I'll nuke the barb and cleric and laugh as they get wiped.
Mages are too fragile at this level to be a serious player, so I may as well be a griefer.0 -
man you are cool you know.....
nice post the act of resing then come back again is awesome in a way...a very demented and **** kind of a way..b:laughIs Back once more.
sorry med school needs some time.0 -
An addendum:
It helps if you have blue-named friend to annoy the HELL out of the person who killed you. In this picture, I am the naked mage, dead on the ground. The killer, Baros, was reveling in his triumph, when my blademaster friend decided to help out with the crazy.
So he followed Baros, typing "Hate Crime" and "****" as he followed him around. My Cleric friend soon joined in, and before long...

He was wishing HE was the one who died.
My faction, MURDERCHURCH, is now officially the most psychotic, masochistic guild on the server.
In another episode today, I taunted a BM because he couldn't one-shot me.
When he claimed it was just because he was using a distance spell, I ran at him naked and died, expediting the inevitable. He was so impressed that he gave my gear back plus 10k.
THAT'S NOT BLOOD IT'S CONFIDENCE ARGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!0 -
The best way to PK as a lowbie mage:
Reroll archer.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

wizards suck. nuff said0

Wizards suck, and most people playing this game have an IQ of 80... It balances itself out. A smarter person would perfer a challange instead of click and kill, and the ones who are less fortunate, they perfer to click and kill to avoid thinking and causing a headache.
But thats only MOST, not ALL of the community.0 -

And someone taking offence to said comment seems to have one of lesser value. My IQ may be more, or it may be less, and I honestly could care less what you think, I'm saying most of the people in this community think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, but when a class that is often called underpowered kills them, they cry and cry, but when they win their ego grows, and their intellect diminishes, for example, there are some venos out there I can't hold a conversation with because all they do is boast about how tough they are with thier pretty little cash shop pet, but when I manage to take them out, they call me a hacker or they just pull excuses out of their ****, such as "Oh, I misclicked" or "Your gear is the only reason you won noob" or my favorite, "omfg you runner, come back and fight me fairly." I don't concider that to be very bright. But yet most of the wizards I've came in contact to have something to talk about other then their **** smelling like roses.
No, the comment was not based on fact, but my experiance within this game.0 -
so true. venos are probably the most overplayed and egotistical chars in this game0
-
**** the rules, we have money. b:laugh
But, yeah, I'm thinking of switching over to a mage. I just have to wait a week for a character to bite the dust. I have eight Venos (yeah, I was bored), mostly to try out builds and pets. HitaKitsune is my main Veno. But I digress. I'm getting bored with Venos, they're just too easy for me. While it does take some concentration to play as a one woman party, there's no challenge in it. So I'm becoming a mage, maybe a solo one at that. I just hope that someone doesn't take the name I want in the next seven days. And don't worry, I'm too kind to PK anyone. b:cute0 -
Yea, the reasons I quit my veno were:
1) No challenge at all, just point and click a couple times
2) All these little boys on this game wanted to cyber me (I'm a guy irl, and yes, my wizard is a male)
3) Too overplayed
In that order. But I'm glad to see that you agree, seems that there might have been a bit of truth behind my post, not all, but most.0 -
It annoys me when people generalize to such lengths and say they are so much higher than others... saying the average IQ on PW is 80 just really annoys me. It's like people saying that Americans are stupid, there are over 300 million people in America... and because a fraction of 1% are total idiots, they get the publicity and people in other countries like to call the entire bunch of us idiots. So sorry for being a ****... you actually have something to say on your other posts... I was just in a bad mood...
(just a side note... by definition, 100 is the average IQ of a population... IQ is based on a bell curve)Youtube Channel: youtube.com/user/D2VeT/videos?flow=grid&view=0

I've never said I was better then anyone else, IQ does not make a person better then someone else, as far as americans being stupid, I say generally yes, but in the matter of IQ? Not exactly, more so laziness, our biggest problem excluding the economy is obesity. But I do understand where your coming from, and I'm aware 100-120 is the average IQ range, mine is above that, but I've met a few other people who are as dumb as a box of rocks, but I will admit they are overall better people then me. And don't worry, everyone gets in to a bad mood every once in a while, its just human nature. And for those who may be curious, those IQ quizzes you find on the net... They are wrong, very. lol.
But I am glad that my point has been seen, maybe it was a bit harsh to call it out by IQ, allow me to rephrase, as I've said earlier in this post, the biggest problem in America is laziness, and most of the american players I've seen are Venomancers, Blade Masters, or Archers, those classes require very little skill, yes, an Archer or Blade Master more so then a Venomancer, but still, not much. The biggest point is, in comparison to all other classes, wizard by far requires the most player skill, and more patience, and I believe that because these are requirements of the class, people assume they are underpowered, useless, etc, because in comparison to other classes, they are a lot harder to learn, let alone master.0 -

I really object to people calling me and everyone I know lazy or stupid... being that I am not lazy or stupid (imo)... I'm working two jobs and still maintain a 4.5 GPA in school, and still do my household chores along with all of that. If you consider that lazy, I dunno what to tell you... and I don't even know anybody that fits anywhere near the American stereotype you are giving. 95% of people I know have jobs while in school (the 2 people I know that don't have jobs volunteer regularly and have well over a 4.0 GPA). You really don't have any room to talk about topics that you don't know about, and it is really offensive to others.
Another side note... average IQ is 100 by definition, not a range... It doesn't really matter what the questions of the test are, but they are supposed to be logic oriented. The results of the test are put on a bell graph... with the left side being 0.. dead center being 100... and far right being 200. So your IQ is not how well you score on the test, but how well you do compared to the other people that took the test. (kids have a slightly different scoring system allowing IQ to be above 200, not exactly sure how that works... but I know it is different)Youtube Channel: youtube.com/user/D2VeT/videos?flow=grid&view=0

Your getting pretty damned defensive, I didn't say YOU were lazy, now did I? No, so shut the hell up and read. I said most of americans, most can be .0000000000000000001% more then half, If you find my post offensive, heres a solution, DON'T READ ANYTHING I POST! And if you don't know anyone that could afford to lose a couple pounds, or get out more, (yes, this is directed to YOU) your a bold face liar. Now do your self a favor, and stop reading my post since they get your panties in a knot, even when your not being referred to. And if your doing all that **** you claim you do, why in the hell do you play an online game? Don't you have homework or something?
Bye Bye.
Oh, and on a final note, I corrected myself about the IQ thing, I admitted that was wrong of me, if you would read what you quoted, you would see that.0 -
I play after I get my homework done... and I play because it is fun? Do yourself a favor and spend five minutes looking for facts before you make ignorant claims. Type "American Obesity Percentage" in google and read the first one or two...Youtube Channel: youtube.com/user/D2VeT/videos?flow=grid&view=0

Your pathetic if you think everything you see on the internet is real, why don't you do your self a favor and ask someone who researches it for a living? I don't accept a damn word you say as truth, because if you were working 2 REAL jobs and in school, you wouldn't have time for a game, sorry, but working a couple hours here and there dosn't classify as a job, if your going to try to lie to someone, make it sounds real. Now I'm done arguing with you, your probably just some 12 year old boy playing a female character to give yourself something to beat it to. Bye bye little one, enjoy life.0

Wow, guys.
This is a humor topic. Treat it as such.
And Streaker, what's the point of this hostility? I mean, you can call Americans lazy and fat, I don't care, but defending it to the death when someone takes offense to it?
That makes you just as bad in my eyes. You gotta know when to drop things.
Adroit, just leave it be. 2 jobs and school + this game is pretty far fetched, admittedly, but I know it's possible. I balance a job and college and a couple of clubs I manage with this game. I'm an insomniac, so I have extra time.
In conclusion, this is supposed to be a fun thread, let's keep it that way.0 -
Like i said man, I'm done arguing with them, I just wish there was an ignore on forums button.0

Well, I was hoping I could correct him... but it seems he is just like the people he was complaining about from the start. Apparently he gave up when the facts were given to him, and tries to discredit every link available on google. IQ is not a fixed mean, but rather a given base with a standard deviation of ~15 both ways. This makes the average IQ somewhere between 85-115, not directly 100. According to you, someone with an IQ of 99 is below average, which is incorrect.
Children's IQ is based off of a ratio rather than a deviation. It is calculated by dividing the child's mental age by their chronological age x 100. Example, if a child starts reading at age 3, and the "average" age that "normal" children began reading at was 6, said child would have an IQ of 200; 6/3 x 100.
Deviations generally differ depending on the test, however you are correct when you state that your IQ is a measure of how many people scored the same, or less than you on the test.0 -

Yeah... distracted... careful when you form arguments while you're "distracted".As only the child that I was, I tread with giants.
