All Class Pets?

So the search tool won't let me search this, because apparently "all" and "pet" is too common, so i'm forced to post..

Can someone explain all class pets? Are they just for show or do they have some use/purpose? I've read somewhere you can use them to fight/tank for you also. And are there differences between the different types of pets?

Lastly, Are they worth it? I'm a Barbarian so it probably won't be much good for me if they do tank for you.

All class pets are only for show. They dont fight or assist in fight.
