Hello.
I just got the game client downloaded today and havent updated it yet.
I cant even ping the update server 64.74.217.11, neither can any of my friends that I assked to try it, and the starter window says "Wrong patch server. Unable to update." in the upper left corner.
It doesnt even show a version number, and when I try the manual patches they always say "update files corrupted", althrough I downloaded them several times (both 1-62 and 1-68) and usually have a pretty stable connection.

I hope anybody can help me on this as I was reall looking forward to trying this game.
Thanks.

    1-62 from FileFactory says "Update files corrupted" too, 1-68 from the official site, but from the link on that fourm page strangely only says "update failed". (But has zero effect as well)
    In both cases my firewall counts a couple of permitted connections and nothing that was blocked.

    Can you tell us the contents of your C:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\patcher\server\updateserver.txt file is? Don't worry about the tab formating, just the words.

    Are you running any anti-virus programs? If so, please shut them off and then try the auto-patch and/or re-downloading the manual patches and apply them.

    No, I am not running any anti-virus programs.
    I just downloaded the update file again, for the 10th time at least from different sources, tried it via Firefox, Mozilla, and fget. Always same result, files claim to be corrupt.

    To be sure I didnt mess anything up by getting the patcher and launcher exe from a friend that downloaded the game just a day before me and for whom it runs fine, I installed the game again from my download to be successfully back with my original problems instead.

    Here are those original problems, maybe they are easier to come up with a solution for.
    (I can go back to the beforementioned set of problems if you find that easier instead.)
    ===========================================================
    The downloaded files verified, the installation verified.

    Upon clicking the shortcut on the desktop, the big launcher window says in the upper left box "Connecting to server... ", a small one pops up and asks if I want to "Upate", or do it "Later".

    If I choose "Upate", with no matter what options ticked or unticked, the big window closes, the little window says "Downloading file... patcher.exe" and stalls there. A TCP connection from launcher.exe to pwipatch.perfectwold.com 217.232.49.198: port 1839 is open, but no data is transferred. (it stays even when I kill the launcher process in the task manager.)

    If I choose "Later", the big window says in the upper left box "Downloading files... launcher.exe", and stalls there. "Update", "Manual" and "Verify" buttons are disabled. A connection from patcher.exe to pwipatch.perfectwold.com 217.232.84.67: port 1854 is open, but no data is transferred. (I can close the window but the connection stays, and as long as its there prvents starting the game launcher again).

    Whenever I try any of the manual update files I downloaded, they bring up the launcher window, then a small "Error" window pops up that says "Update files corrupted" and upon OK closes the launcher with it.
    ===========================================================
    I am running Windows XP Professional (with Intel CoreDuo 2.66Ghz on an Asus motherboard with 2*2GB RAM), with Service Pack 2, am currently located in Germany, and no anti-virus or firewall was active at that time.

    Thanks again for the help and sorry its so complicated for me somehow. I dont usually have problems with other games, modern MMOs included.

    edit: I still cant ping 64.74.217.11 btw, that it says in the forum faq was "the update server"

    udate: To be sure that my files are not corrupt, I now got the whole 2.4 gig again, this time using the same files as said friend for which it worked fine just two days before I tried and thus downloaded and installed again. The download verified fine, the unpacking verified, and the installed files verified during installation too, but still the result is exactly the same.

    I can neither auto-update nor update manually and even if I start the launcher and tell it to update later it still treid to connect to something that inst there.
    (Still, no antivirus or firewall on as I tried that.)

    edit: I still cant ping 64.74.217.11 btw, that it says in the forum faq was "the update server"

    Patch server is at 74.217.110.111-74.217.110.115, 74.217.110.119-74.217.110.120, at this time. You should be able to ping them, or even use a web browser to test (look for nginx). The 64.74.x.x servers maintained by Perfect World Entertainment can not be pinged at this time.

    Could you try the fix described here?

    I can see the 404 page with that word, yes.

    I tried that fix, extracted the CHINAS.ZIP, ran the CHINAS.BAT, but nothing changed.

    After long to and fro I finally got it to work BUT
    I still could not connect to the update server at all, which the client NEEDED to do though to update patcher.exe, packdll.dll and launcer.exe.
    Only after I copied those files for a friend did it show the version and from then on the "download files corrupted" manual patches worked fine.
