Hi
Just started this wonderfull game and have a question about pets?

First is when i lvl a new pet up, as now i am lvl 20, and i use a lvl 4 pet, does the pet need to attack itself to get more XP or can i just kill the mobs myself with the pet out, and it lvls just as fast ?

Other is what pets i should get, i have only 2 pet slots sofar open
Someone said get the Golem as best tanker-strong, while other said, no its too slow and not accurate, better get an other, i forgot the name now, (and i dont like the golem so i got the other)
Also i lvld up a sawfly allready as an air pet, do i need to keep lvling it ? For later use in air probably ?
And /or do i equip 2 pets to lvl for later use, one for Physical dmg tank, and one for Magic resist.(like an Oddfoot i was advised) ?

And is there a way of getting that hay/fodder quest done before lvl 26 ?

Thx for all advice if you have some pls ? b:pleased

Yes, the pet doesn't have to attack to get exp. You can level a low level pet quickest by finding mobs a couple levels higher than the pet that you can kill quickly. Course you don't get much loot that way, so you may wish to tackle something higher level which you can still kill with little help from the pet.

At lower levels, one ground pet and one air pet should suffice. You will need the air pet for some quests in the 30s so it's worth leveling it up.

If you have a golem, in your early to mid 20s you can start killing antelope pups (level 30) for hay for your third pet slot. The golem has weak m.def, but it's got a ton of hp so it can take several magical hits and still survive. I started killing antelope pups at 22. Teleport to the Gate of Antiquity and swim NE across the river. Just be mindful of the spiders (their DOTs really hurt at lower levels), and the antelope respawns (they have strong magical attacks which can take off a good chunk of a player's hp even with high m.def). Both will aggro if you get too close. The golems are peaceful.

I hear that later on you need a pet with better m.def. But so far nearly everything I've encountered up to level 41 has done physical damage, or its magical damage was weak enough that the golem could tank it. That said, the oddfoot (penguin-type) is a good magic tank.

The Rhinodrakes outside Archosaur also drop hay, and can be killed by level 20ish toons. Granted it's only 14% drop-rate, but they die faster. To level one fast I'd grind the snakes and mongooses past the Gate of Antiquity. Fast respawn time and they die quickly, and you don't have to move until your pet gets to level 15ish, but by then it can take care of itself.

0-50 loyalty: 60% base attack rating, 10% exp for kills
51-150 loyalty: 80% base attack rating, 60% exp for kills
151-500 loyalty: 100% base attack rating, 100% exp for kills
501-999 loyalty: 120% base attack rating, 150% exp for kills

I haven't written down all the hunger levels yet, so I can't tell you a best feeding strategy to minimize the amount of food/water consumed. Just be aware that the hungrier your pet gets, the more loyalty it loses every 5 minutes, and (I think) the less loyalty it gains when you feed it. So if you want to build up loyalty, you definitely want to feed it before it goes from green to yellow.

DOes the loyalty drop over time i guess, and you have to keep feeding regularly ?

yep, u need to feed your pet regulary, it's like once in 5 min ( don't know for sure)
and i suggest rising the loyalty to 100, just in case, u need to lure some mobs in FB or HH< and your pet might die some times and u still want to have it's loyalty above 100, btw, when dieing it's loyalty decreases by 100

that's your own shop/stall, u can sell items in it to other players, by setting up a shop means turning in that cute cat(pink for female chars and orange for males)

I've mostly finished the different hunger levels. Your pet's level of hunger drops every 5 minutes it's not fed. The different levels are:

    Clear - Full - feeding gives 100% - 0 loyalty lost in 5 min
    Green - ??? - feeding gives 100% - 1 loyalty lost in 5 min
    Yellow - Peckish - feeding gives 90% - 5 loyalty lost in 5 min
    Pink - Hungry - feeding gives 80% - 15 loyalty lost in 5 min
    Pink - Hungry - feeding gives 80% - 15 loyalty lost in 5 min
    Red - Starving - feeding gives 60% - 50 loyalty lost in 5 min
    Red - Starving - feeding gives 60% - 50 loyalty lost in 5 min
Dark Red - Famished - feeding gives 30% - 100 loyalty lost in 5 min

The longer your pet goes without food, the further down the above list it goes. Hungry and Starving are repeated twice. I haven't had time to test it beyond Famished yet.

When you feed your pet, it goes up one color level (Hungry and Starving do not repeat twice like they do going the other way).
