Question to the herc owners

Alright so I've had my herc for awhile now and I've delt with his damage being fairly bad. Today however, I saw a veno with a magmite that was holding aggro far better than my herc (I send my herc in let it have three hits or so then I go in and attack, she and her magmite attack at the same time). Now I know we could have very different builds, I'm pure mag she could have had mroe vit, plus taking into account my +4 wheel and her lack of wheel, but my question is: Does the magmite have that much mroe attack/aggro moves, or does the herc just plain fail at holding aggro?

The herc does indeed fail at holding agro if you leave it with its Pounce skill. Get rid of that and teach it bash or something. I did and my herc holds agro very well.

Flesh Ream is also fine for holding aggro, and some say it works even better.

Don't remove Pounce on the Phoenix, not ever! Just add Flesh Ream and you have the perfect PVP Machine, the stun comes in handy with keeping your enemies still so the Phoenix can bleed, and as it wears off you can use Lucky Scarab to add your own stun, or even Parasite Nova for a stun and more damage. b:victory

If you don't pvp its useless though.

If you accidentally draw aggro on a mob and send your Phoenix, what do you think stops it attacking you faster, the phoenix hitting it with Bash/Flesh Ream or the Phoenix stunning it THEN starting the damage while it can't do anything. I've yet to hear a good argument for removing the stun skill or replacing it with anything else, even if you don't PVP much.

Well, have fun relying on a move that only works every 60 seconds while the rest of the monsters go after you because you can't stun them. Also what do you do in pvp? Kill 1 person then run and hide until you can use pounce again? (not saying you would do that, players in another mmo I used to play certainly would though. People in this game aren't stupid for the most part)

So phoenix only starts with 3 skills? I don't have one so I don't know.

It starts with Pounce, Blessing of the Pack (HP Buff), and Claw (Damage Boost).

If you draw accidental aggro more than once per minute then for your own sake you need to get better at your class or reroll to a WR or WB. Besides, why would you remove a lifesaving skill just because it has a 60 second cooldown? >.>

As for PVP: The Venomancer is the master of 1vs1, but if you have a second enemy then you send your Phoenix after the first and try to hold off the second with your spells. If you have more than two, well you call for backup from your faction and just try your best till help arrives, it's usually a good idea to pick off the squishies like clerics and mages quickly so you can take your time to deal with the melee fighters (A good WB takes a while to kill, and you need to debuff them or you're pretty much dead). Enemy venomancers should be taken out asap as they'd destroy you if you were outnumbered.

Some people might disagree with those tactics but that's what I've learnt from PVP/TW experience.

Wow maybe I should move to Heavens Tear if it has a smaller population of idiots...Sanctuary is full of complete and utter morons, with some good people thrown in here and there.

But in anycase thank you all for the input, I was actually hoping to save my phoenix's last slot for strong if I ever manged ot get a scroll for it but I may go bash or flesh ream. What are the cooldowns for these skills btw?

I was speaking in pvp terms. In the last mmo I played everyone was a coward and would constantly hide. They'd run into the arena, kill one person then run out of the arena so they would not get hit back by anyone. They were obsessed with stuns and their idea of a fight was the other guy never being able to hit back ever. Players were complete morons and had no clue what real pvp was. This game has real pvp so you can't be stupid about it or you die.

Bash has an 8 second cooldown. Flesh Ream has a 15 second cooldown

Bit late to reply..but for what its worth every pet i have has flesh ream.
My first priority on my herc was to learn it and i maxed it as and when i could,on a diff subject the deflect skill seems to have a small aggro hold all of its own.
For example i can send herc to attack 3 mobs, flesh ream on 1 normal hit on other 2,i can then AOE once without drawing any aggro away from the pet..
However to AOE twice will draw aggro(except if i use myriad as 2nd AOE skill)
Dunno if this helps but i needed to get my posting fix somewhere b:laugh

The deflect skill does pretty well for aggro on melee mobs. It does not however help with magic at all or ranged, since they don't reflect.

You replace Pounce for Bash then, but if you ever tried grinding on butterflies as a level 69 Venomancer you'd see why this is the first time I've heard of people getting rid of the stun skill b:bye

Again thank you all, bash seems to be helping ALOT. I can now pretty spam skills until the enemy is dead, unless of course its an earth mob then I gotta watch the inceased damage. When I get the spare money I'll probably put bash on my phoenix too ^^
